I think I’m finally narrowed down to two options for my little guy who has been impossible to name, but now I need opinions! Which of these do we prefer? (Last name is two syllables, starts with H and ends in an -ee sound)

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
wandawaves · 06/10/2026 07:02

None of them.

cartagenagina · 06/10/2026 07:15

Keep looking

Wishimaywishimight · 06/10/2026 07:17

Are these actually names or just words you like? I'm in Ireland and they would definitely attract some funny looks/raised eyebrows 😁

Cardhey · 06/10/2026 07:18

None! Awful names.

ShopCake · 06/10/2026 07:28

Keep looking. They all sound more like a law firm than a child.

aliceofyork · 06/10/2026 07:29

Honestly, give your child a name, not a word you like the sound of.

welshpolarbear · 06/10/2026 07:31

Are you American op?

Sorry to say, but I think you need to go back to the drawing board.

TheBabyFatmoss · 06/10/2026 07:32

I accidentally for Stetson 😂. IGNORE me. These aren’t names btw.

Agree with this. Unless you are in America in which case, these names would probably fit in well. Although my sense is that Stetson is a particularly… brave… choice. It’s a brand of cowboy hat. www.stetson.com It would be like calling your child Beanie or Fez.
What led you to choose the names? Is it family connections?

I’ll have you know that my little Fedora and Sombrero are delightful children!

FlowerVases · 06/10/2026 07:38

Look again

Rocknrollstar · 06/10/2026 07:38

Meyer is a Jewish name. So unless you are Jewish I would say not.

BarbaraUsher · 06/10/2026 07:39

Stetson? Like the hat.
I don’t think we have anywhere at the same taste, so I’m going to say none of those

BigBadPotato · 06/10/2026 07:44

Probably Lowen, if I had to choose. It’s Cornish isn’t it, and while it’s generally used as a girls name, is, I think, traditionally masculine. With all that said, I’m really only picking it as the ‘least bad’ option, as to me it just seems more of a girl’s name, I’m so sorry!! Meyer is dreadful as a name imo, and with Parks it takes on the sound of some sort of corporate company. And I’m not even going to go there with Stetson, that would be honestly awful as a name, sorry.

If it’s just the sound/feel you like for the names on your list, I suppose you’ve considered Rowan? Or perhaps Ronan? Or Lachlan? If it’s the cowboy ish feel of Stetson, there’s plenty of actual names that have a western feel, Hayes, Jesse, Weston etc. You may hate all of these, but just in case!

Congratulations on your new son, I hope you’re both doing well 😊

MissingMeadow · 06/10/2026 07:53

I live right by a Meyer Park.

ChocoChocoLatte · 06/10/2026 08:00

None

wishfulthinking25 · 06/10/2026 08:01

Sounds like a housing development

TattieSconeEggAndBacon · 06/10/2026 08:04

Voted by accident. Not sure what I voted for.

I am very American! I’ve just been posting on every baby name forum I can find and was not expecting there to be such a big difference in naming culture!

We’ve got a bunch of Stetsons here, in Florida we have a Stetson University and that’s where a lot of minds go.

For Lowen, we’re seeing a bunch of Rowan/Bowen/Cohen, so it just fits into that bunch.

Meyer I got from the lemon and it was the surname of someone I love and look up to!

Parks is a family name going back to 1916 :)

Will definitely be sticking to more American forums for advice and never letting little man move abroad lol !!

Lowen is good, never heard it before but I like it

CloudyWithAChanceOfCustard · 06/10/2026 09:38

Phew! Thank goodness you clarified that you’re American OP. They sound fine in that case…much like the names we (Brits) see on the credits at the end of American films and TV shows. Not unusual at all.

As you’ve discovered though (rather rudely!) here in the UK these names wouldn’t work well. I quite like the sound of Lowen…it has a romantic feel to it.

HugoThatway · 06/10/2026 09:41

Lowen middle name Behold

AgentPidge · 06/10/2026 09:51

Lowen only because I've heard of it and it's Cornish and therefore has some sort of meaning. I really don't like surnames as first names because they often go back to an occupation that has no relevance to the child. Meyer? Awful. At least if you call him something like Rowan you can point out the beautiful tree. As for Stetson, I cannot believe people call their babies after random objects. Cowboy vibe - Jake? Luke?

rhaenyraT · 06/10/2026 09:53

Have you read Yesteryear by any chance? One of the kids in that is Stetson. It’s the best of a very bad bunch. Also wondered if you’re American?

littlemousebigcheese · 06/10/2026 09:57

Love Lowen and parks.
