We are struggling to decide on a baby girls name. We like these names but are struggling to actually choose.

We are not overly bothered about popularity. My son has a popular name by the name lists but has always been the only one in all his classes. And I know it vary heavily by area etc

Freya
Mia
Molly
Charlotte
Lily

Charlotte is my favourite from that list. I don’t really dislike any to be fair although Mia will get me-ah / my-ah confusion.

agri · 28/09/2026 11:06

Molly or Mia

Excellentsausages · 28/09/2026 12:22

Freya is the most beautiful name, was on my list for 20+ years, never had girls though.

catsflorafauna · 28/09/2026 12:59

Freya is beautiful!

Fifthtimelucky · 28/09/2026 13:01

The only one I like is Charlotte.

GoAdFree123 · 28/09/2026 13:37

Well that's an almost impossible task they are all very lovely and if you don't care about popularity that makes it harder! :)

I adore Charlotte - but really dislike the shortenings of Charlie or Char/Shar Lottie is lovely though, in my opinion.

Lily - So pretty but there are lots of flower names about and she'll have to always say Lily with 1 'L'.

Love Freya especially when said by someone from Scandinavia, it's not quite as pretty when said by a British person.

Molly is very cute, I love it but I've not met an adult called Molly, I know a wonderful little girl, can't quite imagine it on a grown up.

So I vote Mia - easy spelling, lovely sound, unlikely to be shortened or changed to any silly nickname.

Mumofgirls2017 · 28/09/2026 14:27

Lily or Molly

PersephoneParlormaid · 28/09/2026 14:28

They are all nice, I like Emily too.

HugoThatway · 28/09/2026 14:57

Molly - slightly twee but Moll is kick-ass
Charlotte - safe but I don't like Charlie
Lily - I don't like Lil.
Freya - I don't like it and it's sounding a bit frayed by now
Mia - completely nothingy. Mere.

I suggest Harriet or Polly

I know several adult Mollys. Baby name explorer

TheeNotoriousPIG · 28/09/2026 15:10

I like Molly and Charlotte from your list. All of the girls/women called Molly/Mollie/Molli that I've met have all been lovely and cheery! Charlotte is one of those classic names that isn't overly popular, but has never fallen out of fashion. I currently know an excellent Lottie (I'm not sure if she is technically a Charlotte, as I've never asked).

LoudPlumDog · 28/09/2026 15:22

Love Charlotte and Freya, but depends on surname, siblings name and middle name.

DangerousLesions · 28/09/2026 15:24

I've always liked Charlotte, and of that list Freya would be the next choice. Does depend on how it goes with the middle / surname I guess.

Calliopespa · 28/09/2026 18:14

All fine except I think Mia is a bit insubstantial as a name. It's more a sound!

Banjas · 28/09/2026 18:34

I like Freya, Molly or Lily
Eloise is a lovely name.

Peanutlicious · 28/09/2026 20:12

All lovely, my faves are Freya and Lily.

LlynTegid · 28/09/2026 20:15

Charlotte would be my choice. No way would I choose Molly.

Banjas · 28/09/2026 20:22

The Me ah / My ah confusion.
I never seem to attach the right pronunciation to the Mia I am speaking to or about. 😩

Firebird83 · 28/09/2026 21:26

I like Molly and Charlotte best.

PinkCatCushion · 28/09/2026 21:44

Charlotte/Lottie

ThatMintMember · 28/09/2026 21:47

Like them all but Freya is my favourite from that list!

SallyAnnDrivesACar · 28/09/2026 22:02

I like all of them. If I had to choose id go for Charlotte.

CloudyWithAChanceOfCustard · 28/09/2026 23:17

All pretty names. Freya is my favourite from your list. ‘Emma’ also has a similar vibe to those you have on your list.

LivingTheDreamish · 29/09/2026 08:36

I really like Freya.

user1492757084 · 29/09/2026 09:05

All nice.

Choose your favourite.
I like Charlotte best and Lily least.

Ladybird04 · 29/09/2026 09:13

Why don’t you wait until the baby’s here and you can see what she looks like? That’s what I’ve done with mine. I actually choose between Lily and Freya for one of my daughters but she looked and felt more like a Lily. She’s 10 now and she loves her name -she often says she wouldn’t like to be called anything else. Good luck, they’re all lovely names.
