Hi have already posted about this not sure where it went! Very Worried I’ve chosen a ridiculous name for my daughter. A previous thread has heightened my anxiety!
Her name is Molly Olive Parker Jones. Am I describing a PARKER as in a jacket?! Help! It’s absorbing a lot of my brain with anxiety! It’s becoming obsessive.

So are you concerned that people will think of Olive as a colour to describe the name Parka as in "Green Coat"? I don't think they will as Olive is a long established name and I have never thought of it as a colour and I have an Olive in my family

No-one has mentioned this in their posts and it sounds like you have only recently thought of this, so I really wouldn't worry

As a PP has said, people rarely use middle names. My own DF famously had to ask my siblings and I what our middle names were when he completed a census form!

I had to spend 5 minutes on this thread before I figured out what the potential issue was. I agree with you that it’s a non issue.

I also don’t think Molly and Olive sound bad together.

My first and second names go really well together, they really roll off the tongue, but I don’t think anyone’s said them aloud since I was small child getting told off!

LilyLemonade · 19/05/2026 22:18

I would never have thought of the 'Olive Parka' being an issue. Never.
Olive is a well-known strong name and its use as a colour descriptor just wouldn't be the first association here.
I didn't understand the issue at all until a PP spelt it out.
Molly and Olive is lovely. Parka Jones are just two surnames - totally fine.

lottiegarbanzo · 19/05/2026 22:23

Molly Jones with a family surname as last middle name. Lovely and normal.

olive coat would not occur to me. Olive connects more to Molly.

Giraffehaver · 19/05/2026 22:24

That is a beautiful name with no downsides I can see. Really sparky!

Your chosen name is lovely.
Molly Jones is sweet.
Fun nick name potential too.

Molly. Actually Molly rarely needs a nick name.

No-one uses or know middle names. i actually had to think what my own child's middle name is.

SwatTheTwit · Yesterday 12:30

Her name is fine plus if she goes into entertainment she can use Olive Parka as her name and that will definitely stay in everyone’s memory.

lottiegarbanzo · Yesterday 12:55

If you’d gone for khaki parka though…

ButterYellowFlowers · Yesterday 15:21

It’s fine Op, nobody walks around with their full name taped to them anyway. Very few people will learn her middle names and if they do they’ll think it’s at least interesting.

Molly Green Anorak Jones

Seeing as she's only 6 months old you can change it.
Molly Burberry Mackintosh Jones sounds a bit more upmarket.

CrowsInMyGarden · Yesterday 15:37

Molly Jones is the character in the old song “oh bla di” or whatever it was called by the Beatles. But I love her whole name!

Notmenc · Yesterday 15:42

Molly Olive is a really lovely name . A second name is a non issue unless double barrelled. Olive is gorgeous though .

ToadRage · Yesterday 15:50

Molly Olive is lovely. Not sure about Parker, its not what i would choose but if that's what you want, go for it. To me Parker is a surname and if you had told me her name verbally I would assume you have a double-barreled surname with Parker being the first half.

OhBettyCalmDown · Yesterday 15:54

It definitely doesn’t give green coat vibes. Besides no one ever uses all of their names.

HugoThatway · Yesterday 16:50

Some do. Molly Jones might have a namesake.

Daphnedolittle2 · Yesterday 17:43

I love the name you've chosen. Molly Olive has a great ring to it. I definitely wouldn't have considered Olive parka as being an issue.
The whole name sounds fab, no need to keep thinking about it. Enjoy your baby.

Thanks so much everyone with kind comments really appreciate your reassurance xxxx

It’s all lovely and she has a lot of options and might love to be a Parka when she’s older. You’ve nothing to worry about.

poppymango · Yesterday 18:37

To be completely honest, I don't like the name Olive at all and I don't think the names Molly and Olive flow well together at all. And now that you've mentioned the descriptor element (as in, olive green parka jacket) I can't unthink it (sorry!)

However, if they're names you love and are meaningful to you, you should stick with them. You can't please everyone, and why would you want to? Middle names rarely get an outing anyway. As long as they suit your daughter, keep them.
