Evelyn, Eleanor, or Juliet?

Which sounds best to you: Evelyn Rose, Eleanor Rose, or Juliet Rose? I know Rose as a middle name is super common and some people don’t like it, but I still love it lol. Which one would you pick? Also, if Rose wasn’t the middle name, which first name is your favorite on its own?

If Rose didn't have to be part of the name, I would choose Juliet. Otherwise, Evelyn Rose sounds the nicest together.

HugoThatway · 02/05/2026 10:45

Not anything Rose. It's so meh as a middle name you might as well not bother.

Evelyn - don't like it at all and she'll be Evie.
Eleanor - classic but I'm not keen on it. Will be Ellie.
Juliet - ok but I don't like it said as Julie-Ette and I don't like Jools/Jules

I'd carry on looking.

Eleanor is gorgeous timeless with cute nicknames. What about Eleanor Juliet ?

Eadwearde · 02/05/2026 11:01

I like Eleanor but it is pronounced differently depending on where you live if that’s an issue for you. Also like Juliet.

DeepHiker · 02/05/2026 11:04

Evelyn has two distinct ways to pronounce it so its a no from me. Eleanor was so popular a few years ago it now seems stale. Juliet on the other hand is classic and timeless . Juliet has my vote.

Gangstamummy · 02/05/2026 11:06

Juliet but like the PP said - not JuliETTE

elliesmummy19 · 02/05/2026 11:09

My daughter is called Eleanor so I’m obviously biased but I love Eleanor Rose. I also really love Juliet.

HugoThatway · 02/05/2026 11:40

Didn't you name her because you loved the name, not named her Eleanor and then became biased towards it?

MississippiCroc · 02/05/2026 13:12

She’ll just be yet another Evie Rose or Ellie Rose amongst the thousands of other Evie Roses and Ellie Roses. It’s so bloody dull.

Juliet is nice ad it’s not as common but Rose as a middle name is massively overused. They all have it.

Tellmetomorrow57 · 03/05/2026 08:01

Evelyn is very popular.

I much prefer Eleanor or Juliet! They're both strong names at every stage 🥰

LivingTheDreamish · 03/05/2026 18:34

Evelyn Rose as a combination but prefer Juliet as a name. Of course you could use Rose as the first name - so pretty.

bridgetreilly · 05/05/2026 01:59

Juliet.

I would pick Juliet Eleanor, not Juliet Rose, though.

I don’t know a single Evie Rose or Ellie Rose.
And I work in a large school. You must live in the U.S.

PumpkinsAndCoconuts · 05/05/2026 16:41

Eleanor is lovely!

But Evelyn flows better with Rose.

HugoThatway · 05/05/2026 19:40

Ellie Rose is probably not that popular. They're all Ellie May/Mae.

pp might be in a boys' school.

Tellmetomorrow57 · 05/05/2026 20:59

Ellie Rose was 2411 rank in 2024
Ellie-Mae 952 in 2024
Ellie-May 1160

Evie-Mae 952
Evie-Rose 1021
This is popularity based on the office for national statistics

Well in our large state school there isn’t one with these names. And why would you call yourself Mississippi Croc if you are British?

MississippiCroc · 05/05/2026 22:29

My name choice has fuck all to do with anything. Why do you keep asking stupid questions?

I couldn’t care less what names are in your school.

HugoThatway · 06/05/2026 09:29

@Tellmetomorrow57 , Those are hyphenated names. The ONS records
Ellie Rose/May or Evie Rose/May as Ellie or Evie.

Ellie might be short for any of the many El- names that are currently popular and Evie might beregistered as Evelyn, Eve, Evangeline etc, and these will have been recorded separately.

Rose and May are overused as middle names.

HugoThatway · 06/05/2026 09:40

@MississippiCroc , @cotswoldsgal1234 I've had nasty replies because people assume I'm a man. My username was inspired by a funny Baby Names thread. Some MNers seem very blinkered.

Bells3032 · 06/05/2026 09:59

Just so you know Evelyn Rose is famous cookbook writer so that would conjure up that. I think as name is does sound the nicest. personally i think Eleanor is the best but I am biased on that one. I also really love the name Evie and would have considered it for my daughter but i didn't want us to have the same initials.

I'd always consider the other nicknames they may end up going by and seeing whether I like all of them or not

PumpkinScarf · 06/05/2026 10:01

Eleanor Juliet

HugoThatway · 06/05/2026 10:04

I don't disagree, I thought it was interesting that there were so many hyphenated! Looking at middle name trends would be fascinating.

Marie/ Louise for the 80s babies!
