Both nice IMO. See which he looks most like or try each for a day and see how it works for you.

Lizzylou · 19/06/2008 16:05

William, definitely

youcannotbeserious · 19/06/2008 16:06

Love both, but prefer Freddie.

For WIlliam, I would've used it if it could've been shorted to Liam, but no surity of that!!!

Prefer Freddie rather than Freddy.

And would go for Frederick as the full name.

Nancy66 · 19/06/2008 16:07

Like them both.

I would go with Frederick and use Freddie - Will is my fave abbreviation of William.

notasheep · 19/06/2008 16:09

I have a Frederick-and he obviously gets called Freddie and Fred

SirJimmySeville · 19/06/2008 16:10

I like both, but Freddie edges it as no associations with Future King! Would rule out Harry for similar reasons, despite liking it

fruitstick · 19/06/2008 16:11

I have a Frederick and he is called Fred. I can't stand it when people call him Freddie and have been known to ask them to stop.

Having said that, I called him Freddie when he was born, but very quickly he became most definitely a 'Fred'

mustsleep · 19/06/2008 16:12

nancy66 that's my fave too, my least fave would have to be willy!

if we actually manage to agree and confirm these what middle names would go nicely?

keep on thinking that the name thing is settled and then one of us will be like oh no i've gone off that now!

I love the name William.

Freddie is ok but not as nice as William.

I was going to have William Oliver but had 3 girls instead!

greenelizabeth · 19/06/2008 17:32

Freddy or Bill.

Bill more unusual.

dd was going to be a Freddie if she was a boy

I love Will (literally, he is my dh!)

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 19/06/2008 17:39

I have a William, middle name Robert after dp's dad. Unfortunately we didn't think of how the two names would go together in everyday life, so thanks to my dp the poor boy now gets called Billy Bob!!

PestoMonster · 19/06/2008 18:03

I love both.

(How helpful am I?)

wonderwomanakaeandh · 19/06/2008 18:09

DD1 goes to preschool with a Freddie (her boyfriend) and a William, I love them both but DH wanted to call dd1 Freddie if she was a boy (after his grandad) so that is more my favourite

suey2 · 19/06/2008 18:10

both great- lots of freddies around because of freddie flintoff: could be a good or bad thing depending on your POV

pointydog · 19/06/2008 18:12

freddie a bit what-ho

I do like Billy

ilovemydog · 19/06/2008 18:15

william - more possibilities if he hates it and wants to be known as something else!

gladders · 24/06/2008 17:02

freddie not freddy...

friends chose freddy and everyone always spells it the other way....

Doozie · 24/06/2008 17:25

Prefer Freddie to Freddy, but would go for the full name on the birth certificate.

William is also good, and I like Bill as an alternative. I've known some young funky Bills and it suited them.

Anna8888 · 24/06/2008 17:27

Frederick (Freddy) is gorgeous . One of my first cousins has a little Freddy.

William just lovely too, but a bit more usual.

AtheneNoctua · 24/06/2008 17:35

William

chandellina · 24/06/2008 18:20

prefer Freddie but it seems too informal to me on its own - i would use a longer version - Frederick, Alfred or Wilfred - and go from there

Kbear · 24/06/2008 18:22

Freddie
