Id bubs is another girl, she will be Sinead, which is apparently the irish version of janet, which is dh mums name.

so i was thinking of a variation of Marie (my mums middle name, she doesnt like her first name Virginia) as babys middle name.

any ideas?

Well califrau can I just disagree with you on that one based on the evidence of my DD's behaviour today. Still it is not really her fault that we are stuck in the house as she and DS were sick on Tues (48 hour rule) and I am genuinely recovering from some unpleasant virus while they are boucing off the walls.

But obviously I approved of Mary at one point.

Maire is pronounced Moyra.

Mhairi (Scots Gaelic) is Varry, which I love, but may be hard to get people to pronounce properly?

TheSmallClanger · 19/06/2008 17:07

I know a Mhairi who pronounces it Marry.
Both Mhairi and Mary go very well with Sinead.

Marita - I think it's Spanish for little Maria.

I actually like Marie. it's a classic!

Like Marianne too.

GreenGodess · 19/06/2008 18:14

Mharie gaelic version - is pronounced Varie - which I think is lovely!

Marie-Claire is my little cousin

Mariela, Marijke, Miriam, or.... my favourite, Marianne.

Sinéad Marianne would be nice.

What about Mairéad? what does that mean? What's it Irish for? Mary by any chance!?
