Is Sebastian overdone? What does it bring to mind?

It makes me think of a bit of a smarmy twat that works in finance, sorry. I'm sure there are nice ones out there!

Makes me think of my lovely cat.A ginger character.😺

The Neverending Story. Love the name.

It was "posh or pretentious" in the days when Waugh was writing. It's not now.
I'm not keen.

He probably has a sister called Matilda or Amelia.

I agree that Se-bas-chun is horrible.

I agree: Sebastian's days as a posh bloke are over!

Makes me think of a song my mum played when I was little. Somebody Called me Sebastian was the chorus.
Dad used to sing Somebody Called me a Bastard which drove mum crazy

swifttara · 27/03/2026 22:29

Love it. Classic but not dull.

Ineedanewsofa · 27/03/2026 22:40

Work with a brilliant one, everyone loves him! I think of the crab 2nd and the Cruel Intentions character 3rd, so only positive associations for me.

FettleOfKish · 27/03/2026 22:44

I only know one, and I’m biased as it’s DH. He’s 44 and not British. I don’t know if I’ve even met another Sebastian.

I used to know a delightful little Sebastian. He was quite solemn and serious and famous for always eating three weetabix (at two years old!) He was very tall and solid.
