What do you think of the name Aidan?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Bunnybigears · 18/03/2026 20:52

I don't know why but I've always thought it sounds a bit unfinished. Like it should have been Adrian but someone forgot some letters. That's probably just a me thing though. I like Ethan though.

HugoThatway · 18/03/2026 20:53

Aidan Abet?

AndresyFiorella · 18/03/2026 20:54

I like it! It's my brother's name. He hated it as a child as it was so unusual then, but likes it now. I much prefer it to Adrian.

SprogletsMum · 18/03/2026 20:54

I have an Aidan, everyone spells it Aiden drives me mad

User6761 · 18/03/2026 21:13

Really like it, lovely Irish name.

wizzywig · 18/03/2026 21:14

TheNameWasOnceChosen · 18/03/2026 21:15

I like it.

jackstini · 18/03/2026 21:27

Love it, only know 1 who is 17

Calliopespa · 18/03/2026 21:39

SATC

teaandtoastwouldbenice · 18/03/2026 21:45

Would have chosen it for 1st if a boy but had a girl, so she’s Ada

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 19/03/2026 06:48

Lovely, historical name.

JoanChitty · 19/03/2026 07:00

It’s my lovely husbands name! Like @AndresyFiorella he hated it as a child but it suits him so well. Like the original Aidan of Lindisfarne he is a kind and gentle man.

HortiGal · 19/03/2026 07:28

Aidan is one of my sons in law, lovely kind gentle man.
Name means little fire/fiery one 🤣

MonsteraDeliciosa · 19/03/2026 07:33

I always think an Aidan is going to be a lovely, kind person. No idea why, just has that vibe for me.
So yes, I like it!

Newthreadnewme11 · 19/03/2026 07:37

I like it. Makes me think of both St Aidan and Aidan from SATC. My favourite of carrie’s love interests! Very sweet but also manly. Good name

Orphlids · 19/03/2026 18:39

I really like it. I agree with PP, it somehow manages to sound rather sweet but masculine at the same time. I’d expect an Aidan to be a decent chap.

Thedogscollar · 19/03/2026 18:45

Hi @JollyGreenLemur
It's a perfectly lovely name plus it sounds great whatever age you are, baby right through to adulthood. If you like it that's ALL that matters.

Favouritefruits · 19/03/2026 18:45

Love it! It’s not weird but it’s not popular, perfect combo!

LilyLemonade · 19/03/2026 21:45

Lovely name.

Giraffehaver · 19/03/2026 22:27

I know a real charmer called Aidan. Knows a lot of ladies if you catch my drift

DramaAlpaca · 19/03/2026 22:30

I've always liked Aidan, and also the Irish spelling Aodhán. Lovely name.

BauhausOfEliott · 19/03/2026 22:47

I think it’s a really nice name.

EggplantSurprise · 19/03/2026 22:49

SprogletsMum · 18/03/2026 20:54

I have an Aidan, everyone spells it Aiden drives me mad

That would be the sole potential drawback for me. Otherwise a fine classic.

I've always liked Aidan, and also the Irish spelling Aodhán. Lovely name.

Aodhán isn’t usually pronounced the same way though.

Aodhán isn’t usually pronounced the same way though.

No, you're right, it's not. I should have said that in my post.
