Chloe or April?

Don’t know what we’re having and can barely agree on any names but these two names are both ones we sort of like.

April - wasn’t that the name of the character in teenage ninja turtles?

Szerelem · 17/03/2026 22:26

Oh gosh, not Chloe.

April slightly better I suppose. But does make me think of April in Revolutionary Road, which isn't the cheeriest of books.

April

AutumnAllTheWay · 17/03/2026 22:38

I love chloe!

Really surprised by the negative comments so far

I love the name April, it's very pretty. I also like the French version Avril.

It's just dawned on me that that's what Avril Lavigne was named for 🙈

mumofoneAloneandwell · 17/03/2026 22:40

April imo x

Going to hijack this thread...I'm also considering April and was actually going to start a thread to ask thoughts on naming your daughter April if they aren't born in April...what is everyone's thoughts on this? My baby is due in July.

Obviously, my choice for Op would be April!

April

Pemba · 18/03/2026 00:18

Chloe is much nicer though, I find it odd that people prefer April. Maybe because there were a lot of Chloes around in the 80s/90s, and so they probably know a few Chloes in their 30s or 40s. But I think it's narrow minded to always follow the latest naming trends when Chloe is still classic and beautiful.

I don't mind April, but it doesn't stand out in comparison.

SharpGoldWriter · 18/03/2026 01:48

April, as I think Chloe is too common. I would never personally wonder or ask about birth month for anyone with a month name...I knew an April and never once thought her birthday.

StartupRepair · 18/03/2026 01:56

Prefer Chloe. Would you consider Opal?

plantsandnames · 18/03/2026 06:28

@MissRabbit00very similar tastes! Any suggestions for boys too please? We have no idea for a boy at all and suggestions welcome as your girls list would be the same as mine!

Thanks for everyone’s else’s views, interesting to hear thoughts. I didn’t realise Chloe was viewed as dated by some, weirdly doesn’t change my opinion on it though.

Chloe. Beautiful name.

TheHouse · 18/03/2026 06:41

@Pemba

Maybe. I have an April. It’s only her in a year group of 375. There’s about 6 or 7 Chloe’s.

SuperMarioToadPrincessPeach · 18/03/2026 07:02

Chloe.

I’ve always thought April is such an ugly name.

Lisanne55 · 18/03/2026 07:06

April, but only if born/due in April otherwise it's a bit odd.

Chloe is OK but dated.

Zoe is nice, like a pp said.

She does have a brother! Top names on the list for him were Jack, Avery, Jacob, Samuel. If I was having one now though I think Ralph would be on the list.

Shocked at how many people saying no to Chloe. But when naming my daughter I did read that it is the most divisive name - so I guess that was true! 😂

MissRabbit00 · 18/03/2026 10:07

Also no one has ever asked what month my April was born in. I think it’s odd that people think you can only be named after a month/season if you were born in it. Surely a month/day can mean something to you for a completely different reason.

plantsandnames · 18/03/2026 10:14

@MissRabbit00how funny, Jack is my number one choice for boys but husband has said no. We have very similar tastes.

I also agree about the month thing, it wouldn’t even occur to me that a ‘month’ name was born in that month. I’d quite like a nod to Christmas time with the middle name even though it’ll be a spring baby 🤷‍♀️

If I was to have another baby girl now Robyn would defo be my top name!

I know a baby Chole and when I found out the name I actually thought it was quite refreshing for a baby name these days! It’s a pretty name. I think I prefer it to April.
