Hi everyone, I hope you can help us. Our 3rd son was born a few days ago and struggling to decide on his name. We already have 2 boys (Owen and Robin) and our surname is 2 syllables.

Does anyone have any suggestions please? Or from the list below which names work well? We have noted down these names but no clear front runner yet:

Samuel
Sebastian
Ellis
Callum (Cal)
Eric
Leon
Odin
Logan
Liam
Joel
Finley/ Finlay
Cole
Rory
Oscar
Leo
Lewis
Christopher (Chris, Topher, Kit)
Ethan
Flynn
Charlie
Connor
Cameron
Caleb
Ewan
Jacob
Blake
Lawrence
Lucas
Aidan
Aaron

Thank you in advance!

Laurence is my favourite . Laurie is a lovely shortened version as well. Not too common and suits all professions/ careers etc

My favourites are Oscar and Rory, but that would mean repeats of name beginnings and I don't know if that would bother you.

I also like Charlie, Callum, Finn, Leo, Christopher (Topher or Kit). Samuel and Joel are okay.

Nice list - I like Callum best. How about Evan instead of Ewan?

Guerlainade · 19/02/2026 03:19

My favourites are Caleb, Callum & Flynn. I also like Finn & Otis too

I like Samuel. If you like Kit you could go for Christian rather than Christopher and it maintains the ‘n’ ending of Robin and Owen.

I have a Louis (pronounced Louie not Lewis). No one ever says or spells it wrong if you point it out just once. I love Flynn (very popular) and Ellis (unisex name). Finn is also great but was my dogs name before my first son arrived so couldn’t use it. I also have an Oliver (he’s never had it shortened)

There's another thread where some posters are saying that Samuel is 'Sam-yule' or Sam-yel. I've not heard those but they are off-putting.
Samson might be an alternative.

Flynn or Lucas

I found the third boy really tricky too. In the end we picked a nickname and worked from there.

Think you probably need to decide if you want to repeat the -en sound at the end or not as a starting point.

Toby, Oscar, Ollie, Freddie

Ollie and Freddie are both names i absolutely adore but i know someone with children called Ollie and Freddie plus i have a daughter Freya and i want all my children to have a different starting letter

MythicalEphemera · 12/04/2026 18:28

My favorites are Charlie, Jacob and Aiden.

I would also suggets Collin, though I might have a bias for that name lol
