I am stuck with names!!!!

I love the name James Oliver for a boy but worried people will associate that with Jamie Oliver! How about Oliver James?

And for a girl, DH suggested.....Kylie.
Sorry if there are any Kylies out there but nooo!

I like the name Sophia (pronouced Sof-fire)
Not sure of a middle name to go with that?
How about Sophia Rose?
Or Scarlett Rose?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

My dh suggested Shakira

Sophia pronounced Sof-fire may be a little confusing.

I wouldn't worry about the association with Jamie Oliver. He's unlikely to be famous for ever!

lotspot · 15/06/2008 15:52

your pronunciation of Sophia sounds more like Saphire to me - which i assosiate with cats - sorry

And i think both Oliver James and James Oliver are really lovely names, and remember tht appart from family very few people ever know or use middle names

Scarlett Rose is nice, but on it's own i find Scarlett a bit harsh sounding

nkf · 15/06/2008 15:55

If it says "sophia" it will be pronounced "So fee ah."

SoupDragon · 15/06/2008 16:11

I think Oliver James works better.

Sof-fire sounds like you're putting on a poncey sloaney /plummy accent. Sorry

Cecy · 15/06/2008 16:25

I think you'd have terrible trouble with the sof-fire pronunciation.
James Oliver is fine, as Oliver will only be a middle name and not your surname.

janeite · 15/06/2008 16:28

Oliver James is lovely; Scarlett Rise is lovely. I really don't like your pronunciation of Sohia but Sophia the correct way is much, much better than Kylie!

Tigerschick · 15/06/2008 16:41

I prefer the 'flow' Oliver James but Oliver is extremely popular at the moment - not sure if this bothers you.
James Oliver is a nice combination and I do prefer James as a first name.
I wouldn't worry about Jamie Oliver, like belgo said, he's not going to be around for ever and, as Cecy said, Oliver wouldn't be his surname.

WRT Sophia, I prefer it pronounced So-fee-a.

I once knew three girls named Scarlett Lily, Sapphire Belle, and Satine Rose.
