We are struggling to think of boys names for our baby boy due imminently! Any ideas welcome for boys names to go as a sibling to Matilda 😊

You’ll often need to refer to them together and Matilda is a 3-syllable name of heavy consonants. I wouldn’t always want to be talking about ‘Matilda and Barnaby’, it would be exhausting!

Oh yes, I like that with Matilda.

Rufus works well too as it harks back to that early history style.

My two are Matilda and Barnaby so I am biased 🙂

FlatErica · 28/01/2026 20:32

Henry!

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 28/01/2026 20:49

William 1, 2 and Henry 1 were all married to Matildas. I think one of them was actually called Rufus, but used one of the other names as king. But I'm a bit hazy on details.

Agree you don’t need another three syllable name. Keep it to one.

Joseph
William

I think Hugo is overdone personally... I'd go old fashioned children's story... Edward or Peter.

HanJanFan · 28/01/2026 22:44

Thanks everyone - lots of good ideas for us to consider.

I had a great aunt who was born in 1892 and was called Matilda. She would be tickled pink that babies were being called Matilda more than a 100 years later.
