Where are all the Finns?

We're considering naming our baby boy Finn. Looking on recent baby name stats, seems there's a lot of Finn/Finleys? But I have yet to meet one (and we know lots of children through my older daughter). Is it very regional?

I've just looked up Scotland baby name stats, yes it seems there are! But Finn is actually an Irish name. But I think Finlay might be Scottish, and I suppose lots of Finlays go by Finn. Are you in Scotland, and are there lots?

Scotland is crawling with Fin/Finn/Finley/Finlay/Findlays!!! The variety in spelling would put me off alone. Also, bizarrely, like the name Isla, everyone I know using a Finn variation is English living in Scotland!

But we used to live in London and I taught in an area with very few white British children (I’m talking 1 or 2 per year out of 99 in a cohort) and if there was a white British boy in the cohort they were a Fin/Finn/Finley.

People in Finland call their kids Finn?
Isn't that like people in England calling their kids Eng?
Ireland - Ire?
Greenland- Green?
New Zealand- New Zeal? 😂
OK I'll stop now. Love the name Finn actually.

I Have a 2013 born Finley ( in hindsight wish I had just called him Finn) he's at high school now as everyone calls him Finn. I prefer it but if feels weird if I call him Finn 🤦🏻‍♀️😂

whenever he plays football there's always another Finn/ Finley on the other team ( I'm in west mids )

This is funny as 20 years ago I was pregnant and contractions had just started and DH and I went for a walk ( to get things moving) we had decided on Finn as first name but by the time we walked around the kids play area we realised that it seemed like every other boy was a Finn/Finley so we changed our boys name while in labor so it was very popular in London 20 years ago!

I wonder how someone can ‘suit’ the name Finn? Does he look Finnish?
