Which goes best with the surname, @Newmum1996 ?

Pettenell · 20/01/2026 23:33

I like both but would go with Polly with brother Frank. Frank and Nancy is too Sinatra for me.

Samdelila · 20/01/2026 23:36

Polly

rainingsnoring · 21/01/2026 00:15

I prefer Polly but do like Nancy as well.

Personally, I strongly dislike the whole baby shower concept and find it attention seeking and grabby but it's up to you.

Calliopespa · 21/01/2026 00:22

I really dislike Nancy.

Polly is sweet and second time baby showers are a bit desperate looking.

LivingTheDreamish · 21/01/2026 04:30

I like Polly best with Frank.

I wouldnt have a second baby shower, no. That doesn't stop people from bringing you a little gift if they visit after baby is born, if they want to.

Moreteaandchocolate · 21/01/2026 05:27

I like both, but would pick Polly 😊

muddyford · 21/01/2026 05:46

Nancy.

Poppins2016 · 21/01/2026 06:34

I'm not sure the Sinatra reference will matter that much to your children/be very relevant when they're grown up.

If you like Polly and Nancy, you could also consider Nelly (/Penelope).

NeedToKnow101 · 21/01/2026 08:04

Nancy!

NearlyThere91 · 21/01/2026 10:52

Definitely Polly

I really quite like Nelly.

I don't know what it is about Nancy, but I cannot accept it is time for a revival.

dailyconniptions · 21/01/2026 15:10

Names don't need to "go'. Choose whichever you prefer. Polly would be my choice. Baby shower is completely unnecessary. Again, do whatever you prefer and sod everyone else's opinions!

luckylavender · 21/01/2026 15:20

Nancy

Newmum1996 · 21/01/2026 19:12

Wow comments are so torn! but thank you all so much for taking your time to comment! Thanks to the couple that told me they’re vile. Luckily I didn’t ask your opinion if you liked them or not xoxo :’)

I like both a lot and they are both pet forms of classic names. Polly for Mary (Polly, Molly, Mally, Mary) and Nancy for Ann (Nancy, Nan, (Mine)-Ann).

Nancy. Really Dickensian and sophisticated,
Polly is a little nursery rhyme and diminutive.

TheeNotoriousPIG · 21/01/2026 19:50

Of the two, I've always preferred Polly, but recently met a teenager called Nansi (Welsh spelling of Nancy), who meant business and was ready to take on the world! I was quite impressed!

CreativeGreen · 21/01/2026 19:55

I like Polly best. And then you can buy and read Polly and the Wolf 😂

Frank and Nancy Sinatra. Nice names.

Avantiagain · 22/01/2026 07:44

Nancy. I did immediately think Sinatra but it isn't something young people will think of and it's not a bad link.

leporello · 22/01/2026 08:00

I have a Polly (daresay I would loathe the names of those certain posters' dc 🤨) and have never regretted it. She loves her name - pro is that loads of children's books and rhymes feature a Polly, con is that you can never find keyrings etc in tat shops with her name on 😄. I do really like Nancy as well though.
