Augustus vs. Augustin?

So...we like the nickname Gus and do not like the full name August (too trendy, not classic enough). That leaves Augustus or Augustin (ah-GUS-tin). Preferences? Difference in vibe or same vibe?

I do think Gloop I'm afraid, but if he is always Gus then it won't matter.

I do prefer Angus or Fergus personally.

Augustus out of those 2. I love Gus!

But I prefer any of August, Magnus, Fergus, or Angus.

I far prefer August, then Augustus (aw-gus-tus) then Augustine (AW-gus-teen). Ah-GUS-tin sounds very awkward to me.

I think it's the French pronunciation actually - which isn't that odd as it is used more in French than English really.

I still prefer Augustus as a good strong name.

I absolutely believe it’s legit but absolutely wouldn’t be for me 😁 far too pointy and twee for my taste.(it’s the ‘ah’ that made me imagine an American accent - ah-gust, ah-gustus etc).

I like Augustus and I’ve always like the shortening Gus, but I would have used Angus.
