Due a baby next month, sex unknown

What do you think of Heidi for a girl?

Still need a boys name! My other boys have uncommon names, definitely the only ones in their class / school so want something along these lines.

Suggestions most welcome 😊

I like it. Be prepared for Heids and Hidey.

Pranksters · 30/12/2025 13:32

Heidi is quite popular at the moment. I know two Heidis.

Sosigrole · 30/12/2025 13:33

I’ve got a 15 year old Heidi, still love the name now and she is the only Heidi in her high school.

Pretty name. Lovely.

amy480 · 30/12/2025 16:39

It’s a sweet name. I know 2 little Heidi’s so don’t consider it unusual but currently not super common either. The other Heidi I know is in her 60s but I must say it seems a bit odd to me on an older lady for some reason!

HerVagestyTheQueef · 02/01/2026 23:48

I don’t really like it to be honest. Reminds me of cows.
It’s not a proper name though, is it? Just a diminutive.
The literary Heidi was actually called Adelheid.

Calliopespa · 03/01/2026 00:25

I really quite like it.

It's classic but has a certain freshness and simplicity.

The Peter reference is to her goatherd friend in the Spyri novel.

BarMonaco · 03/01/2026 00:27

I love it

It's lovely don't second doubt yourself if you really like it!

The literary Heidi was actually called Adelheid.

What I was going to say.

The Anglicised version is Adelaide, which I like. (The Australian city was named after Queen Adelaide, 1792-1849, wife of William IV, aunt by marriage to Queen Victoria.)

And the French version is quite pretty too - sounds roughly like Add-eh-lay-eed

BarMonaco · 03/01/2026 10:55

I like Heidi but not Adelheid. Heidi has been used as a stand alone name for many years.
