Or are celebrities calling their babies ridiculous names?!!

Have any of you mums called your child a crazy name?

Do you think they regret the name they choose later on? Has anyone regretted the name they chose for their little darlings?

Stella is a variation on Estella which is used by Dickens in Great Expectations. It's a very normal name and nothing to do with the beer

Honor also sounds very normal to me and probably due for a revival.

2point4kids · 11/06/2008 09:28

Oh yes, those way out wacky names Stella and Honor... almost as wacky as James and Sarah..

LuLuBai · 11/06/2008 10:19

The only celebrity name that currently enrages me is Jordan's last one - Princess Thi''ing. Honestly!

I think Honor and Stella are rather pretty.

I grew up surrounded by kids with fairly loopy names whose parents were probably still suffering from hallucinogenic flashbacks in the early 70s so there isn't anything that new in it.

Yeah - how on earth did she manage to create such a ridiculous name from two pretty names. Duh!

Although I would never choose them in a million years I can actually see the charm in Paula Yates' doolally choices for her daughters.

It's conceivable to imagine looking at a newborn baby and feeling a hormonal urge to name it Peaches.

But I would hope that I would manage to control the urges and and keep it for a nickname rather than put it on the birth certificate.

What about the actresses

Tuesday Weld and Honeysuckle Weeks?

Just heard about a kid being named Sunshine Love.

Expecting a girl and love unusual names but worried about sounding as if I'm trying too hard. I like Daffodil, but I am not being allowed to have that one...

solo · 11/06/2008 12:56

It took us 3 weeks of calling her ' Baby Girl' to sit down and properly decide on Dd's name and thinking about it logically now, Willow is the only name for her...the others would just not suit her quite as well...anyway, Monster or devil would've been contested by family members I think...and she really was an awful tiny baby.

solo · 11/06/2008 12:57

I think Tuesday and Honeysuckle are olde worlde names too...must check!

solo · 11/06/2008 12:59

Daffodil would be made into Daffy, Dildo, Dilly...

LadyThompson · 11/06/2008 12:59

Well solo, I was called Serena for the first few days of life because I was so serene. Then I opened my gob wide and basically bawled until I was two, so I got called something else instead...

MaryAnnSingleton · 11/06/2008 13:00

Honor and Stella are lovely and not odd in the least

solo · 11/06/2008 13:02

LOL@LadyT
Dd was a water baby and she too was fine and quiet, ' calm' the MW's called her...for 3 whole days...Then, she made up for it big time.

LadyThompson · 11/06/2008 13:02

Yes, I see the problems for Daffodil (Daft etc...hadn't even THOUGHT about Dildo...) but I think it's a really lovely name. Anyway, it's out. DP hates it. I might have gone for Bluebell had it not been for Geri Halliwell. Trouble is, we all choose names when WE HAVE PREGNANCY GOGGLES ON. In six months, I am bound to be going "Pooh - Daffodil??? How ridiculous"

Enid · 11/06/2008 13:04

dazedemma are you a journalist

pay yer wack please

solo · 11/06/2008 13:06

Bluebell is lovely. Would be lovely and not common at all...Geri Haliwell has great taste, better than Posh's choices...Brooklyn? FGS!!!

cyteen · 11/06/2008 13:13

Funnily enough, when I saw that Jessica Alba had called her child Honor Marie I immediately thought "there'll be a thread on MN tomorrow saying how refreshing it is that a sleb has used a 'proper' name".

Enid · 11/06/2008 15:36

honor is a very old, traditional name btw
