Suggestion of whimsical names

Looking for acceptable and established, but unusual whimsical names. Unusual, as in outside top 100, not unique. Would prefer if origin is of mythology or literature or history, but they also should be magical. Looking at European names mostly.

Names that I consider whimsical, but looking for more suggestions, especially according to first paragraph criteria
Aurora
Thisbe
Nimue
Juliet
Eluned
Amoret
Olwen
Freya
Cecily
Twyla
etc...

what is the birth month/season meant to be?

PInkyStarfish · 10/12/2025 18:12

Rowan.

Jonathon Ross and his wife called their children alternative names and they do not suit them now they are adults. Be mindful that the wispy haired elfin child called Mimsy might grow up and be a great big butch woman.

Be careful not to go full 'boy named Sue' with it - she'll be her own person, and you can't make her fey by calling her Peasbottom, to use one of the suggestions above.

Mydadsbirthday · 10/12/2025 19:00

Some of these are bonkers 😂 come on, Peasbottom, Hatshepsut?

No the horse was called Pie.
Why would you call a baby Gossamer? After a pair of tights? I'm sorry but I'm rolling on the floor with some of these daft names.
