Too old fashioned?
Or a lovely classic?

I would pronounce it the saac as "Zack" or at least that's how the parents of the boy I know pronounce it.

LivingTheDreamish · 09/12/2025 02:37

Lovely classic!

CrostaDiPizza · 09/12/2025 10:10

People frequently misspell it as Issac This

blobby10 · 09/12/2025 10:14

Love it - its my middle sons name - he's 27 and his nana still can't spell it Grin. it was very unusual when he was born but now much more popular- never had it shortened although mil(nana) tried to call him Ike.

Mistyglade · 09/12/2025 10:29

Like it, classy name. Blue hotel comes to mind.

People have misspelt mine for years and it’s quite a classic old English name. Not much you can do.

No, but if it would bother you, you could pick a different name.

champagnetrial · 09/12/2025 10:40

A lovely classic. And a v cool song:

'Isaac's a soft name. It sounds like a pocketful of rain'.

(Prefab Sprout. Green Isaac).

Not really. People will always misspell names.

Mumofteenandtween · 09/12/2025 10:55

Lovely lovely name but the misspelling to Issac is common.

CrostaDiPizza · 09/12/2025 10:58

@Mistyglade , if OP are aware that Isaac might get misspelt, they could register him as something else. I wouldn't use the name Reuben because Rueben would annoy me.

My sons name, it means he who laughs and hes a happy soul! I love it but I am bias.

We also have as Isaac and part of the reason I chose the name was due to its meaning.

I chose it for its biblical reference but my husband chose it for its reference to Isaac Newton.

DarkLion · 09/12/2025 14:53

It’s my sons middle name and I love it, he’s a Freddie Isaac as I wanted a Christian middle name and found it meant he who laughs

No, lots of names are easy to spell!

Isacc is often misspelled.

Moreteaandchocolate · 09/12/2025 16:19

I love Isaac - definitely not old fashioned to me - it’s a modern sounding classic

IdaGlossop · 09/12/2025 16:24

A beautiful, serious name, and biblical if that matters to you.

You'll be disappointed if you think Isaac is a specifically 'Christian' name...

I have taught ine Isaac in 30 years. He was smashing. It's a good, solid name with an edge of coolness that, for example, Ethan, Jude and Noah have lost through popularity.

MumChp · 09/12/2025 17:16

It's a great name.

Calliopespa · 09/12/2025 17:56

I really like it.

That and Benjamin are my favourite Biblical names I think.

No I know it isn’t specifically ☺️ it has Hebrew origins doesn’t it from what I remember

Piggywaspushed · 09/12/2025 18:12

Yes, so I presume you mean Biblical?

CherryRipe1 · 09/12/2025 18:18

It's definitely of Hebrew origins, he who God smiles at. My distant ancestors were Ben Isaacs, (son of Isaac).

alexdgr8 · 09/12/2025 18:21

It's a fine name.
Classic and timeless.
Such a welcome change from the usual stupid mickey mouse suggestions i see on here.

CrostaDiPizza · 09/12/2025 18:21

@Piggywaspushed , Isaac (name) - Wikipedia. Variants are used by the Abrahamic religions.

Piggywaspushed · 09/12/2025 18:29

Yes, I know!
