Was the elsdest of the children of Israel with Simeon & Levi the next in line (Joseph & his funky coat lyrics)

I like Reuben

Jbck · 06/06/2008 13:56

Like it.

OrmIrian · 06/06/2008 13:58

OK. I know a Reuben.

DarthVader · 06/06/2008 14:01

I would think Reuben was jewish.

NorthernLurker · 06/06/2008 14:02

I think it's lovely

amyjade · 06/06/2008 16:55

Love it!! We have a Fraser but if i had another Ds i'd probably call him Reuben.

muggglewump · 06/06/2008 16:58

I love it.
It was on my list for a boy

FrannyandZucchini · 06/06/2008 16:59

nice

Blandmum · 06/06/2008 17:00

Nice name.

CoteDAzur · 06/06/2008 17:09

Only if you are Jewish.

Weegiemum · 06/06/2008 17:10

I'm not normally a fan of Old Testament names, but I like this!

If anyone has seen the musicalit could be a bother, but most children wont have:

Napthali and Isaachar with Asher and Dan
Zebulon and Gad took the total to nine
Jacob. Jacob and sons
Benjamin and Judah, which leaves only one
Jacob. Jacob and sons
Joseph-- Jacob's favorite son

Confederate · 06/06/2008 17:11

A very attractive name. Suggests curly hair.

jingleyjen · 06/06/2008 17:12

I would assume you were a Jewish family... if you are then Brilliant,

OverMyDeadBody · 06/06/2008 17:13

rather smashing name I think

OrmIrian · 06/06/2008 17:15

Anyone remember the film Reuben Reuben? I liked that film but not relevant at all.

ChicaLovesBranstonPickle · 06/06/2008 17:19

I'm not really that keen tbh.

welshmum · 06/06/2008 17:23

My Welsh methodist brother his and Irish/French Catholic wife have a Reuben....
He gets called Roo or Ruby too
It's a great 'not too hard not too soft' name IYKWIM

CurrantBM · 06/06/2008 17:24

Absolutely lovely, had a great uncle Reuben, thought of it for Dc2, but a little girl, so went with Ruby.

3madboys · 06/06/2008 17:25

my ds2 is Oscar Reuben, we often call him Reuben actually or roo, or roo cake...... a huge number of variable nicknames

but its a lovely name and would have been his first name except someone in my toddler group used it before me

artichokes · 06/06/2008 17:36

Love it. Was our chosen name for DC1 but she was a girl. It was DH's great grand-fathers name. He was Jewish but DH is not, I do not think it is too Jewish for non-Jewish families to use.

Alishanty · 06/06/2008 19:13

Like it. It's ds's middle name. dp has got jewish ancestors but we didn't pick it because of that, I actually thought it was a german name!

serin · 06/06/2008 21:29

Very popular with my friends, I know 4!!

serin · 06/06/2008 21:30

4 Reubens, not 4 friends.

serin · 06/06/2008 21:30
