Hi, after many many years of trying, much loss and heartache DH and I finally have a gorgeous baby girl who is now 4 days old. Before she arrived we rarely discussed names, I think out of fear something would go wrong. She is very likely to be our only child.
I love the name Jenna, I’m not exactly sure why but I think it’s gorgeous. DH likes it too but is worried it’s a little dated.
We have discussed other names but none feel quite right.
Middle name will be either Helena, Alexandra, Elizabeth or Paulina (grandparents names or twists on grandparents names).

Thoughts?

I like it! It’s a little dated but not in a bad way, and it sounds quite refreshing among all the Lila / Layla / Evie / Ava names at the moment - she will very likely be the only Jenna in her school!

Congratulations! Jenny is a lovely name.

The only comment I would make is that my mind instantly went to Edward Jenner, the scientist, but that is no bad thing.

Wow you’re much more highbrow than me, when I first saw “Jenna?” I thought - “what’s the special pie today?”
Jenna Hunterson from Waitress, a truly wonderful character and you absolutely can’t go wrong with that name, beautiful.

Tamarastar · 31/10/2025 15:40

Congrats on the birth of your daughter! Love the name Jenna.

Jenna is lovely. If this is likely to be your only child would it be a good idea to honour your mum too with Jenna Elizabeth Helena? You know best your relationship but might sting a bit for your mum for such a long awaited and wanted baby to be named after MIL only.

OlympicOwl · 31/10/2025 16:05

I love Jenna!
Congratulations for your baby girl!

purple590 · 31/10/2025 16:19

I don't think the really long names run well as middle names - and Jenna Helena is too rhyming - but Jenna is lovely.

Emanwenym · 31/10/2025 16:36

Jenna Helena doesn't rhyme.
If your mother is Helen and MIL is Liz, why not use Jenna Elizabeth Helen Surname?
I prefer Helen to Helena.

theunbreakablecleopatrajones · 31/10/2025 20:44

I don't really like it - makes me think of US high school dramas from the 80s, but it's far from awful. I'd probably go Genevieve or Jennifer nn Jenna though.

theunbreakablecleopatrajones · 31/10/2025 20:58

It does if it's pronounced Hel-un-uh as it often is in the UK.

Emanwenym · 31/10/2025 21:08

@theunbreakablecleopatrajones , it would need to be said as Hel-enn-a to rhyme. The combination doesn't work though.

Firsttimebabymummy · 31/10/2025 22:05

Love it!

Jenna Elizabeth or Jenna Alexandra get my vote. Congratulations

FranticFrankie · 31/10/2025 22:11

Good name, not dated. I know a lovely Jenna 😍

Hazelmaybe · 31/10/2025 23:02

Love this name! Jenna is not overused or dated

Mandarinaduck · 31/10/2025 23:16

Lovely name, very pretty and elegant - sounds good for both a little girl and a grown woman.

RadiatorDrying · 31/10/2025 23:25

Lovely name. People of my age (50) may remember it from Dallas in the 1980s but it’s Cornish in origin & has always been popular there.

My daughter’s head of year is a Jenna & she is the most delightful professional you could meet so I have very positive associations with it.

Many many congratulations on the birth of your daughter, how wonderful that you finally have her 💐

LivingTheDreamish · 01/11/2025 03:38

Congratulations on your lovely new baby girl! Jenna Elizabeth gets my vote. I don't think of Jenna as dated, its unusual and rather nice.

lydialucy · 01/11/2025 03:46

Another vote for Jenna Elizabeth.

Zelda93 · 01/11/2025 07:30

I named my daughter Jenna and she is six now.. I picked it as its is quite uncommon and wasn’t on the top 100 list of girls names at the time .. I love her name and it is said as Jenna not Jenner and we are northerners!! I love that’s it’s not a common name and it suits her 🥰

Livingmagicallyagain · 01/11/2025 07:36

Beautiful gem of a name. Congratulations!

abracadabra1980 · 01/11/2025 07:37

Jenna is lovely- but I’d have Elizabeth as a middle name as two names ending in ‘a’ doesn’t sound as nice.

RingoJuice · 01/11/2025 07:44

Jenna is a huge 80s/90s name in the states but don’t notice it in the UK so much so maybe it’s okay. It’s a nice name I just think of a 30-40 year old

distinctpossibility · 01/11/2025 07:47

I like it.

Struggling to see how you could pronounce Jenna and Jenner differently though?! Jenn-uh for both surely?

Jenna is Jen-ah

Jenner is Jen-ur

Very different sounds (Scottish pronunciation)

Sofiatheworst · 01/11/2025 11:31

I have a soft spot for this name. Reminds me of a little girl in a made for tv Christmas movie I watched as a preteen. Always thought it was lovely ever since

Emanwenym · 01/11/2025 11:44

@ApolloandDaphne , OP hasn't said she is in Scotland.
Both would be Jenn-uh here.
