Which to go for!?

Other suggestions welcome too… We already have a Poppy! Love the name Clover, but would never be brave enough.

I've always really loved Alice, though MN is putting me off it a bit by calling so many boys Ellis - which I really don't like.

Freya is also nice.

Can I suggest you DON'T do the "Holly and Ivy", "Clover and Daisy" type name scheme? They are all generally nice names on their own, but when you do a pair or a string of them it does sound like a garden centre, and you are naming babies not plants.

Poppy and Freya - perfect together!

TheLivelyRose · 30/10/2025 22:44

Alice. It is classic and a royal name. There won't be that many of them either.Which is good.

Freya is very trendy and overused.

CleanSkin · 30/10/2025 22:50

Freya is beautiful.

LamourdesTrois · 30/10/2025 22:52

In order of preference:

  1. Clover
  2. Alice
  3. Freya

Clover is a tub of margarine.

Pranksters · 31/10/2025 00:31

Freya is so popular it’s dull. I have several friends with Freyas. Especially if you just stick Rose on the end like every other Freya.

LivingTheDreamish · 31/10/2025 01:27

I prefer Freya over Alice, but love the idea of Clover and Poppy. Go with Clover OP!

There's been at least one child named Alice in the majority of classes I've taught over the last 15 years. It's much more likely to have a class with an Alice than one without. (English teacher, high school).

Also, for people of a certain age it might make them think of the song 'Alice? Alice? Who the - is Alice?'

pincklop · 31/10/2025 04:52

Alissa or Elisa are slightly different

Pemba · 31/10/2025 05:05

So what? It's also a plant. Iris, another similar name, is the coloured part of the eye...

EmmaWotsit · 31/10/2025 06:58

My DD is Alice so I may be biased.

Freya is also pretty. Please don't burden your child with Clover!

CleanSkin · 31/10/2025 08:19

Dame Freya Starkwas a British explorer & travel writer who broke so many boundaries (in every way) & who lived to 100 years old. Surely enough of a reason!

Foreverdancing · 31/10/2025 08:20

Alice is beautiful and so timeless. It’s a ‘little black dress’ type name, classic, elegant and won’t date.

I also really like Freya but I hear it a lot more so it doesn’t have as much charm imo.

hellsbells99 · 31/10/2025 08:22

Both names are lovely.
sorry but I associate Clover with a cow’s name

FightingInAVatOfJellyBabies · 31/10/2025 08:23

I just see Lice but then also see Lover, but maybe that's just me being odd.

I do like Freya.

I think it is a stretch that primary school children will be aware of a 1977 rock song.

If adults of a certain age think "who the fuck is alice" in relation to a schoolchild, then they need to grow up. Especially if that person is a high school english teacher.

HugoYorway · 31/10/2025 09:40

I think it is a stretch that primary school children will be aware of a 1977 rock song. It's from 1995.

Idontknowhatnametochoose · 31/10/2025 09:41

I had a guinea pig called Clover once. It definitely speaks more to me as an animal name than human.

user1492757084 · 31/10/2025 11:54

Poppy is lovely with both Alice and Freya.
Clover I like a little less.

Others ..
Scarlett
Indigo
Zena

LolaBumble · 31/10/2025 12:28

Thank you all 🫶🫶 feeling more and more set on Alice! Clover is as divisive as I imagined

I have never liked the name Freya, Alice is much nicer.
