What's your opinions on the name 'Sorena' or 'Soraya' I like it, it's uncommon however in the UK what will people think and is there any other options I could use (not too common names)
I liked Lorena but people had some other associations with that name. I guess I like names ending in 'rena' or 'lena'

My Great Aunt is Helena shorted to Lena, and my Great Grandma was also. I think it's one of the prettier sounding old names, I'm not a fan of the older names on a whole though.
There's a few with Lena Alena/Alina
Elena.
Selena (which I've always loved or Seline) but does remind me of Saline unfortunately.
My DS really wanted us to call our youngest Adalina/Adaline but I just couldn't get the phrase Had a Line out of my head with it unfortunately. But i do think it's pretty. Good luck OP choosing names isn't the easiest.

I prefer just Soren

YourZippyLion · 07/10/2025 22:32

I went to primary school with a Soraya, it’s a beautiful name and she was a lovely friend.

HundredYearOldMan · 07/10/2025 22:35

Milena

Luckynumber2 · 07/10/2025 22:47

Soraya is my favourite potato variety! I think all the names are pretty though. I think Serena looks better than Sorena. I also like the name Corina.

Stillamum3 · 07/10/2025 22:49

There's a lovely old American song called Lorena sung by John Hartford. I love it!

TheBirdintheCave · 07/10/2025 23:29

I knew a lovely Soraya at college. Such a pretty name :)

Calliopespa · 07/10/2025 23:49

I like Serena and Helena.

The spelling is different, but do you like Katrina or Katarina?

oh yes, and it can be Adeline too - which I think is the French spelling.

Also Augustine.

Madeline/ Maddelena?

Calliopespa · 07/10/2025 23:56

There is also Marlene, which in France is pronounced Marlena.

But I think Maddelena is prettier and she could be Lena or Maddie.

Yes it can and it really irked me as I really did like it a lot.
My sons Grandma is Magdalena. I forgot about that one.

Like the malt loaf? First thing I thought!

Serena or Selena are lovely names though

Think about her having to spell it to everyone she comes across. Eg you could have Serena instead of Sorena

Yes this. Ive had to correct my first name and last name my whole life so far 🤦‍♀️😂 At the age of 34 I dont correct it as its fried me 😂

Moreteaandchocolate · 08/10/2025 18:42

I prefer Lorena to Sorena or Soraya.

I like the suggestions of Selena, Serena, Helena too.

Actually Angelina seems to have been untouched in the wake of Angelina Jolie (maybe for fear of not living up to it looks-wise!) and that little ballet mouse, but it's rather a pretty name. But I really love Evangeline ( prefer to Evangelina).
