Can we use these three names together?

Or will everyone make the connection I've just made?
We already have a James and an Edward and had more or less decided on Henry for DC4 if they’re a boy 😅

Will people make the connection? Does it matter since they’re all quite classic simple names anyway?

I thought kings. Do kids still watch Thomas the tank engine anyway? There would be no teasing? All lovely names.

JillyGiraffe · 29/09/2025 20:00

My first thought was Thomas The Tank Engine but only because you asked the question… all lovely names!

LivingTheDreamish · 29/09/2025 20:58

Three lovely names. I think it comes down to whether it will forever irritate you if anyone makes a Thomas The Tank Engine joke. As they are such classic names I can't really see it being an issue myself.

thecatfromneptune · 29/09/2025 21:00

Seems fine to me! If you were proposing a Percy and a Gordon I might have twigged, but I think you’ll be absolutely fine with the three names you’ve listed!

Alexandrine · 29/09/2025 21:07

It’s absolutely fine as they are all popular timeless, classic names -I bet historically when larger families were more commonplace that lots of people had sibsets with James, Edward, Henry in them (and if there were even more boys they probably had a William and a George too, many people like “Kingly” names).

Just don’t be tempted to use Percy (or maybe even classic Thomas himself ) if you have a fifth. That might cross the (train)line🤣.

cheapskatemum · 29/09/2025 21:09

My first thought was kings. Is your daughter Elizabeth?!

Oaktreet · 29/09/2025 21:11

I did think of trains immediately but my child is currently going through an intense Thomas the tank engine phase so that will be why. Can't say what I would have thought of otherwise.

AmberBeaker · 29/09/2025 21:14

I don't know if it's OK but I find myself in the same boat!! My boy name choices tend towards Thomas The Tank or the Royal Family lol...

RosesAndHellebores · 29/09/2025 21:16

Harold is another option.

LiquoriceAllsorts2 · 30/09/2025 05:17

I don’t think it’s bad that they are all in Thomas. They are nice names that go well together

Empress13 · 30/09/2025 05:24

Perfect names I hadn’t a clue what you were alluding to tbh

Harold is another option.

That’s the helicopter. 😂

Is the girl Rosie?

Cocktailsandcheese · 30/09/2025 15:39

Lovely names, totally fine

ukathleticscoach · 30/09/2025 15:41

No Thomas no connection

I would not put them in tank tops though

clary · 30/09/2025 16:38

Ok like lots of others I thought kings, which is fine (I am not a royalist at all but ds1 has a king’s name and dd has the same name as several queens).

yy no Thomas so no link to tank engines.

Toomanywaterbottles · 30/09/2025 16:57

I think kings.

user1492757084 · 01/10/2025 10:59

You can't leave one child without his own engine.
James, Edward and Henry are great.

Others ..
Duck
Murdoch
Victor
Skarloey

SkaneTos · 01/10/2025 11:08

Great names!

I did not think of trains either, but of the current British royal family.
Prince Henry/Harry
Prince Edward
and his son James.

dontcomeatme · 01/10/2025 11:10

I have a Henry James and Edward Jamieson. If baby number 3 is another boy I'm going full King route with William 😅

They work well together I think! Lovely names OP x

mathanxiety · 05/10/2025 00:11

Definitely kings here.

Great names.

RobertaFirmino · 07/10/2025 15:11

See, my first thought was vacuum cleaners. They're the names of other models in the Henry range. They are decent names though.

CountryShepherd · 09/10/2025 15:42

I thought of the Fox acting dynasty!

JaneEyre40 · 09/10/2025 15:44

4th is fat controller?

cheapskatemum · 23/10/2025 20:11

My friend had a dog called Diesel.

FraterculaArctica · 23/10/2025 20:16

My DS aged 2 1/2 marched into nursery one day and baffled the staff by announcing firmly "I called James and my baby sister is called Gordon". (He is not, and we had gone with something more conventionally feminine for newborn DD...)
