Rueben - yes. Zac - Zachary on the birth certificate, Eddie - Edward on the birth certificate. The child/adult can then choose if they want their name shorter. Arlo - no

Comedycook · 30/08/2025 21:42

I love the name Zac ...but I'd put Zachary on the bc

Reuben is ok

Eddie is nice.. I'd have Edward on bc

Really dislike Arlo...I find it a nothingy name and it will date terribly

ninjahamster · 30/08/2025 21:43

Reuben - lovely but quite popular these days.
Zac -love, would put Zachariah or Zachary on BC.
Eddie - not a fan.
Arlo - my fave in your list.

Badlypaintedrose · 30/08/2025 21:44

Love them all! Agree about putting full names on the birth certificate.

im Jewish and have always considered Reuben a typically Jewish name. No problem with that at all obviously but you may not be comfortable with people making assumptions about your son. It’s quite popular now though so I may just be out of touch!

Reuben and Arlo are very popular right now, which may not be an issue for you but fyi.

Eddie is the most unusual. I like it short for Edmund.

Loads of Reubens and Arlos around, I prefer Arlo. Zachary is nice.

Needspaceforlego · 30/08/2025 23:08

Oh Op I see why your struggling!

Reuben lovely name, been popular for a while I know two in their early 20s. Neither are particularly religious or of Jewish heritage

Zach again lovely classic name

Eddie different vibe to the others. Id probably give Edward on birth cert. Is Eddie after a grandparent? Tbh, I'd half expect Eddie would be a family name. It could be paired with either Reuben or Zach
Ruben Edward
Zachary Edward

Arlo I also think with date. It also sounds like a pets name. Arlo the dinosaur from a disney film 🦕 and friends dog.

BoleynMemories13 · 30/08/2025 23:37

As a given name, my favourite is Reuben. If Zachary nn Zac was an option, I'd go for that.

I dislike Eddie, but agree with others that if you're going for this he needs a full name on his birth certificate. My personal preference would be Edward (although personally I much prefer the shortening of Ted, over Eddie).

I really dislike Arlo. It's a modern fad name which will date terribly.

Reuben or Zac(hary) for me.

Alexandrine · 31/08/2025 00:35

Zac for me. Although you may want to consider using the more popular Zack spelling - Zac or Zach look more like they are likely short for Zachary, where as Zack looks more like it could be a standalone name imo in the style of Jack (in fact I’ve never understood why it’s not as popular as Jack!).

Never personally liked the sound of Reuben or Eddie. Arlo is nice but it is super trendy - I think it might date badly.

user1492757084 · 31/08/2025 02:19

My favourie is Edward
Then Reuben.

Silverbirchleaf · 31/08/2025 05:43

Reuben - if mn is anything to go by, is increasing in popularity, nice name.

Zac - nn for Zachary (love) or Isaac (ok)

Eddie - nn for Edward, Edmund, Edgar, Edwin, etc

Arlo , has been popular recently, ok name

Nathaniel
Frederick, nn Freddie
Robert, nn Robbie

StarlightBlues · 31/08/2025 06:10

I would pick Zac but call him Zachary on the birth certificate. Second choice would be Reuben.

Mumof1andacat · 30/08/2025 21:41

Rueben - yes. Zac - Zachary on the birth certificate, Eddie - Edward on the birth certificate. The child/adult can then choose if they want their name shorter. Arlo - no

I like the name Zac, but I'd put Zachary on the BC. It's a bit trendy, which puts me off. Various spellings like Zach, Zak etc of which Zac is the best.
Eddie is ok, but I'd put Edward on the BC.
Reuben is ok but gets misspelt. I wouldn't choose it. Seems a bit wet.
Arlo - nothingy and it will date badly.

Zac or Eddie depending on which goes best with the surname.

Bluelilacbella · 31/08/2025 11:36

I don’t like the sound of Zac at all - it sounds so weak and reminds me of sack.

Reuben is ok but very Jewish.

How about Robin, Quentin, Tristan?

Bluelilacbella · 31/08/2025 11:37

And Arlo is indeed too trendy/faddy

Moreteaandchocolate · 31/08/2025 11:51

I love Reuben, Zac and Eddie (prefer short for Edward)

Arlo is nice too just a bit trendy for me.

Out of those i would choose Zac

boysmuminherts · 31/08/2025 12:02

I know a 50 year old Arlo. Always loved his name. The others are all decent boys names. My favourite is Reuben. The other 2 sound like nicknames.

SallySummerPop · 31/08/2025 12:29

I liked Edward (Eddie)

Bigearringsbigsmile · 31/08/2025 12:31

Reuben ir Edward

LoudPlumDog · 31/08/2025 14:37

Reuben, 100 percent

Goofles · 31/08/2025 14:40

Zac!
