Peach is a great name

My daughter is named Peach! She’s now 16 about to get her GCSEs and we all love her name. We gave her very sensible middle names but so far she has shown no need to use them. Wishing you and your daughter a lovely time together, whatever you name her.

We named our son Kumquat, he’s 23 and just finished his degree. We gave him a sensible middle name.

He thinks we are twats.

I heard he thinks you are Kumtwats.

I quite like Peaches. Peach not so much. Apple is terrible, as is Plum. Kumquat is growing on me.

Why don’t you just edit the post so people don’t keep reading it if you’ve realised how wrong you were?

You can only edit for a few minutes after posting something.

Surely, in that case, they'd be calling their kids Almond and Brazil?

I'll get my coat. (Although I secretly think Almond and Brazil are pretty ace names).

Cute name for a poodle

clarrylove · 19/08/2025 16:43

If I have quadruplets they will be Each, Peach, Pear and Plum. 😉

Cat3059 · 19/08/2025 16:56

It makes me think of the song 'Moving to the country, I'm gonna eat me a lot of peaches'. It's not a name I'd ever use as I think it has stripper connotations and it's the sort of thing celebs name their kids. I'm glad it's working for your dd though.

The trouble is if you have a name like Peach pretty though it is, if the child turns out to be plain and awkward she won't feel like a peach and might find that embarrassing

I guess she might feel furry and squishy?

Or perhaps she bruises easily?

There are all sorts of ways to feel like a peach...

I know of a 50 year-old Plum and a baby Plum.

I know a Plum, and she’s a vacuous, 20something horror.

I know someone who has named their baby Plum and they also have a daft surname. Lots of people have laughed behind their
backs and I feel sorry for the poor baby being ridiculed so much already!

Whatever is wrong with a quirky nickname? But register them with a non-hilarious name they can fall back on in future when they'll almost certainly want to! Has everyone forgotten how mean kids can be at school?
