Hi all- first time I've found/posted on this site and gutted as a bit late (baby due 5/6).

Need some help please, both hubby and I like both these names, hubby slightly prefers Daisy and I think I prefer Claudia but to be honest we like both of them and really cannot decide - getting quite close to due date and we keep changing our minds on which one we will be 100% happy with.
What do you all think - Daisy is more popular (3 in my area) so should this put us off?
Opinions please......
Thanks in advance
Lindsay

So many Daisy's around now - I remember when there were hardly any. It's sweet though. Claudia is nice too - much more mature name so I can see a little girl with the name Daisy but an adult with Claudia... not helpful really but both are quite nice.

I love both names... We were considering Daisy for dd but when she arrived, she was almost 10lb and didn't look very much like a Daisy (I think of it as a delicate name and she wasn't and still isn't a very delicate looking baby

Claudia is beautiful as well

Jenbot · 27/05/2008 23:25

Claudia.

GooseyLoosey · 27/05/2008 23:26

Daisy is sweet, but think Claudia might work better on a 35 year old.

Flibbertyjibbet · 27/05/2008 23:33

I prefer Claudia. IMO it will 'age' better than a twee flower cute little girls name. You have to put each name with her surname and think 'which will look better on her university application form?'

Claudia.

Re: Amelia - There's a well-known poem by Thomas Hardy where the 'melia of the title has bettered herself (melior = better - Latin). Admittedly by prostitution, but I'd still read Amelia as 'better' rather than 'limbless'!

Definitely Claudia not Daisy. Daisy - too girly/childish/twee.

gracepaley · 27/05/2008 23:42

My dd2 is Claudie. She rocks.

spareparts · 27/05/2008 23:44

Claudia!

lindsayloo · 28/05/2008 08:53

Thanks for all the messages - the opinions couldn't be more 50/50!
Think we've decided on Claudia, out little boy is Jimmy and we hope the names go together - I think possibly Daisy has the edge with Jimmy but thats a silly reason just to pick a name.

* Gracepaley - my only concern really is the shortening to Claude (bit unfeminine) did you start with Claudie and firm when people shortened to Claude?

Thanks again!

yes go for Claudia! Daisy is very pretty for a child, but not so good for an adult imo.

lindsayloo · 28/05/2008 09:37

do you think Claudia is pretty too? or bit masculine?

OP posts:
belgo · 28/05/2008 11:49

Claudia is feminine without being overly pretty. It's slightly exotic. Certainly it's not masculine.

Buda · 28/05/2008 11:57

Def Claudia. Know a few Daisys and do wonder how they will feel about it when the want to be a supreme court judge or something!

savoycabbage · 28/05/2008 11:58

Claudia. There are so, so many Daisys.

MrsBoo · 28/05/2008 12:03

I love the name Daisy - and nearly used it for DD - but here in NI the local accent makes it sound almost like 'dessy'

JessJess3908 · 28/05/2008 16:18

Daisy sounds like she'd be more fun than Claudia...

Alishanty · 29/05/2008 10:28

Daisy, we were thinking of this at it's dp's nan's name only couldn't as we have friends with a dd called Daisy.

alibubbles · 30/05/2008 08:38

I love the name Claudia, I look after one! Their ages are 6, 22, 24 and 56 and the name suits them all.

I know 4 Claudia's, two are Cl-or-dia and the other two are CL-ow-dia as they have italian roots.

BambiBaby · 22/06/2008 17:44

I'm a Daisy, and it's taken me most of life so far to get round to liking it!

However, can now say I love it, it's feminine and has a summery kind of feel to it, imo.

Definately not keen on Claudia, tbh.

xx

LavendersBlueDillyDilly · 22/06/2008 17:53

I love Claudia, very feminine but in a graceful and elegant knid of a way. And unusual.

Daisy is pretty and sweet, but in a sugary fluffy kind of way. And not unusual.

BetteNoire · 22/06/2008 17:55

Which did you go for, lindsayloo?

electra · 22/06/2008 17:56

Claudia
