Am pregnant with dd and love the name Arabella. DH does not (but he can always be worked on) and part of me feels its too posh? What do you think? Have given up discussing this with parents and in-laws because of too much negativity! (Don't mind negativity from complete cyber strangers!)
Already have 2 DSs, James and Max so I'm obviously getting more adventurous in my old age. Would probably shorten Arabella to Bella.

Thanx singyswife for good luck wishes. DH knows how excited I am about having a pinkie (he's got his boys and future tennis/rugby/football professionals!) so all should be well.
Yes, please tell, what IS the stereotype?

Sorry, was forcing kids to bed. Apparently girls with names ending in "a" are treated in a more "traditionally" feminine manner etc etc. Before anyone starts, there's no point having a go at me, I just read the research in t'Grauniad.

Lovely names littlelapin but if your ds had been a girl she would have been the absolute last in pre-school to learn how to write her name.

Thomcat · 26/05/2008 21:20

Really. Can someone please tell all the men in my life that then please!!!!!!!!

littleapin, DD is due 15th August so still lots of time to choose/obsess over names! As far as middle names go, we have used family names for the boys so will do so again with Sophia and Alice. Our surname is quite run of the mill.
Don't mind the stereotype!

I love Bella - not that keen on Arabella but it's OK!

Hulababy · 27/05/2008 09:49

I am not keen on Arabella, although Bella is quite nice. I would prefer Annabelle/Annabella as the longer name personally though.
