What would you suggest goes well with Alexander as a middle name? Current contenders are Thomas, Robert, James...

I think lots of second names go with Alexander- I have an Alexander Kieran, to reflect both my Irish and my husbands Indian ancestry

Alexander Leo.
Alexander Francis
Alexander Lucas
Alexander Charles
Alexander Lawrence
Alexander Benjamin.
Alexander Clark.
Alexander Matthew.

Not James. My middle name is Louise and it’s utterly pointless.

theunbreakablecleopatrajones · 28/06/2025 11:10

Thomas, because James is a bit filler - also a bit too short in contrast

But something a wee bit less standard maybe?

I think something longer works best

Alexander Nicholas
Alexander Sebastian
Alexander Gabriel
Alexander Tobias
etc

I think you want to avoid anything that starts with a vowel or ends with the same ‘ah’ sound

We have an Alexander and his middle name is Joseph, middle name is a family name.

Missj25 · 28/06/2025 11:20

Alexander James is nice alright

BootballJoy · 28/06/2025 12:00

I'd avoid middle names starting with a vowel.
Alexander Louis
Alexander Henry
Alexander Matthew
Alexander John
Alexander Willam

Alexander Michael

I think Thomas, James or John all go well.

I have an Alexander and his middle name is Thomas (family name). It suits him.

OrsolaRosso · 28/06/2025 12:41

Is there a family name, or one with special meaning that you could use?

Icecreamhelps · 28/06/2025 12:41

Paul

My vote would be Alexander George 😊
