I have 2 names shortlisted for a girl and 2 shortlisted for a boy. I find out on Monday what I am having and really excited!
The 2 girl names are Kinza and Alizée.
The 2 boy names are Noah and Isaac.
Honest opinions please?

If in UK then I would avoid accents as too many don't understand them and can't type them either.

Never heard of either of the girls names. Both boy names are fine.

Not keen on Alizée. People won't put the accent on, and you'll get the anglicised pronunciation of ally-zay.

DreamyBeaker · 19/06/2025 17:20

Thank you everyone for the honest opinions & yes I am French African heritage but hubby is English and we are trying to come to a compromise with the names.

First child is Winnie which we both loved after multiple vetos but I can imagine won't be popular on MN.

I knew the boys name would be popular among the masses and if it's a boy, it will definitely be between these 2 which I am glad has a good approval rate as compared to the girls name!

This is definitely a worry unfortunately, however much I love the name.

I think they are all great names. That’s not very helpful of me.

That is very kind thank you!

Boys names are lovely. Girls names awful.

Alizee as it’s derived from French reminds me of allez ici which means come here.

Hard to find names that work in two different places but as your have chosen Arabic and French names not sure if that works - plus the kid lives here so maybe find a name between the two? Unless you are born British with no cultural influence other than the UK and they are just wrong.

Ddakji · 19/06/2025 17:29

Kinza
Isaac

Issac’s the only one I actually like, though.

Bumbers · 19/06/2025 21:38

Is Alizee pronounced Ali - Zee, a bit like Ali G?

zebrastripesarefun · 19/06/2025 22:30

Love both your boys names. Alizee is lovely too. Not familiar with Kinza but it is rising in popularity

ThatNaughtyTabby · 19/06/2025 22:43

I like kinza and Isaac x

PlumpAndCircumstance · 20/06/2025 00:09

I like both your boy names - I don’t like the female names, sorry.

but in a similar vein, what about Kezia or Kenzie?

SchnizelVonKrumm · 18/06/2025 19:21

Alizee or Isaac

Yep

Enough4me · 20/06/2025 00:13

Lovely boy names!

Gattopardo · 20/06/2025 00:15

I love Alizée, it’s beautiful. There was a very sweet little girl with that name in the film Être et avoids

horseplay12 · 20/06/2025 00:20

Are you England/UK based?

horseplay12 · 20/06/2025 00:21

Just thinking pronunciation- the boys names are both lovely, but the girls names may be more difficult generally in life.

Gattopardo · 20/06/2025 00:49

Arf. * Être et Avoir.

user1492757084 · 20/06/2025 13:51

Isaac and Alizee.

MsGoodenough · 20/06/2025 22:53

Alizée is beautiful. It will be pronounced Ally-zay (with a diphthong) in the UK but that's still nice.

Gattopardo · 20/06/2025 23:13

It will only be pronounced Ally-ZAY for a short while while people get used to her name.

Generally people are pretty good at acclimatising to names, except doctor’s receptionists and border officials (in my limited experience). My child has a very simple, two syllable phonetic name (Anouk) and some people remain determined to mispronounce it (Annick, Anwock, Annou- Kay - I did laugh at that last one) but they are few and far between.

Hazelmaybe · 21/06/2025 23:13

I love Winnie
i like Isaac and Alizee best. Do you like Manon? I love that name!

itellstalez · 21/06/2025 23:14

Are the girls names cultural? They sound terrible otherwise.
