Middle names that have a “Earth / Globe vibe”

Sorry if I’ve worded the title incorrect.

My son’s middle name is Atlas, we like to travel and had a travel/globe themed wedding so it fit in nicely for us.

Expecting no 2 (not sure on gender) and want something with a similar vibe.

I quite like Ocean / River but DH hates it.

Google ‘Gaia’ , for a girl, it’s got some lovely meanings.

Userxyd · 18/06/2025 12:52

im really sorry but it all sounds a bit “my personal brand” to me… I think you’ve got a good middle name for your son but if you start looking for another one it risks sounding themey and a bit cringe? Is there anything different you could go for that’s less made up sounding? Eg. India or Siena if either of those have meaning for you as they still have the travel vibe but without being too obvious.

MrsSkylerWhite · 18/06/2025 12:53

Came on to say Gaia, too. Or Demeter?

I appreciate your reply! I know what you mean… I was thinking of using a subtle name that goes along with Atlas, I think that’s why DH isn’t keep on ocean or river as it’s obvious we’ve gone for a theme

I love the name Sienna

I like Forrest / Everest / River, I think they’re unisex.

Om83 · 18/06/2025 13:05

You could go for something like Sky/Skye, or Kai I think is Hawaiian for sea and sky.
I heard an unusual name recently of Jal, which apparently means traveller/wanderer…?

MirandaBlu · 18/06/2025 13:05

Ferdinand/Fernando or Fernanda means "brave journey"

Beatrix/Beatrice/Betrys (originally Latin, I think) means voyager or traveller.

Peregrine (or Pellegrino) - Italian from Latin, and the name of a few saints - means traveller. Peregrine was one of the babies born on the Mayflower (the other was Oceanus).

Aïda means traveller, visitor, or returner (probably from Arabic roots).

Barbara comes from the Greek root for foreigner, visitor.

The Scottish/Norse name Sommerled means summer traveller.

Any Slavic name with the suffix -mir or -mira has the meaning of both the world/globe and peace.

PP suggestion of Jal is so nice! Haven’t heard of that before.

I heard the word Journey used as a name the other day - could work for either?

Gaia is good for a girl. Or Terra? (As in terra firma, terra means land/earth.)

Aurora?

Zephyr for a boy?

Christopher is the patron saint of travellers, for a more traditional choice.

I suggest Iolana for a girl, it means “to soar” and it’s so pretty.
There is also Sif, who is the Norse goddess of the earth.
Gaia, as many have suggested, also pretty for a girl.
Oceana perhaps better for a girl than Ocean.

For a boy, Sorley. It means “summer traveller”.
There is also Loki, Norse goddess of adventure, or Odin, Norse all-father, god of the whole world.
