Thoughts on the name Taya for a girl?

Middle name would be Louise

Agreed @DuchessOfNarcissex But that’s partly why if it’s @rubyywoo ‘s favourite, I don’t think there’s any reason not to use it - as a Taya is unlikely to have any issues with her name, even though the individual numbers for it aren’t huge (and despite it not being a classic/traditional name that’s usually my personal taste, I still find it pretty).

Because a good percentage of Taya’s peer group will have these similar style names, so she’ll fit right in. And despite their popularity on Mumsnet and seemingly in the charts, I’ve actually found it’s names like Elizabeth, Charlotte etc that stand out more in nursery now in my experience - even Olivia and Amelia stand out when nearly all the other girls have a 2 syllable name ending in “ah” or “ee”.

Not keen. I don’t really like Tea either. Thea is better & I know a Theo(dora). I prefer Tamara, Talitha and Tallulah.

I've always liked the name Taya.
I've known two people by the name, one was a woman and the other was a little girl in DD's class, both were of Serbian heritage and they spelled the name Taja, pronounced Taya.
Taya Louise sounds nice together.

I wouldn’t know if it’s Tay-a or Tyre! Maya has the ‘I’ sound. I wouldn’t want my child to be called Tyre…

I prefer Tia.
I also like
Tess Louise and Tess Louisa

Awful. It's just a word.

Sure all names are just words.

Unless you mean that you haven’t heard of it before and think it’s not a name which is just a lack of knowledge on your own part really.

DuchessOfNarcissex · 18/06/2025 10:14

@JillyGiraffe , that'd my objection to names like Mia, Fiadh, Maya. Depending on the accent, they can sound like mere, fear and mire.
