Ethelred?

I like it.

Nancy66 · 22/05/2008 19:09

No keen and seems to be a lot of them.

One of those horrible American names that's drifted over here...like Corey.

cornsilk · 22/05/2008 19:10

don't like Ethan that much - sorry

glaskham · 22/05/2008 19:14

It is of hebrew origin meaning steadfastness and constancy. I like it and it's popular but not too common, where I live.

learningallthetime · 22/05/2008 19:18

Thanks, posie, I love the meaning. Nice and Solid.

CantSleepWontSleep · 22/05/2008 20:52

I like it. Is quite popular these days I thought, though not excessively so.

MadBadandDangeroustoKnow · 22/05/2008 21:15

Fine biblical name. Quite a few nearby, but nothing like (say) Joshua and Oscar, which - nice names as they are - are ubiquitous.

ElizabethBeresford · 22/05/2008 21:16

I like it.

BigBadMouse · 22/05/2008 21:21

It's a fine name. I really like it. Ignore all the people saying it is American and silly and remember the real origin .

Reminds me of Ethan Hawke (who was cute when he was younger!)

DeeRiguer · 22/05/2008 21:34

ethan cohen
ethan hawke was nice bbm

LaDiDaDi · 22/05/2008 21:53

ok

cyteen · 23/05/2008 12:16

I don't like it. Ethan Hawke is a nob, and also it makes me think 'ether'.

Divejaney · 23/05/2008 12:19

Not one of my faves either - like the meaning but not the sound.

belgo · 23/05/2008 12:20

It's fine. No objection to it.

Jojay · 23/05/2008 12:21

Nope, don't like it, sorry

PuppyMonkey · 23/05/2008 12:21

Like it

FAQ · 23/05/2008 12:23

I kept calling a friend's DS Ethan.....for ages, until one day she quietly corrected me that it was Evan

I like it, but then there aren't many round here.

orangehead · 23/05/2008 12:23

"horrible american name" its hebrew and in the bible . I really like it

Pinkjenny · 23/05/2008 12:26

I like Ethan - know quite a few baby Ethans though so wouldn't use it personally.

Amandella · 23/05/2008 13:35

I really like it...I know a lovely Ethan - always helps!
