Intend to use the names in brackets for day to day

Could lily be a Nn for Aurelia?

mathanxiety · 15/06/2025 00:20

I like Anna and Ada, and if those are the names you'd use, then put them on the BC. There's no need at all to complicate your child's life with official and everyday versions of their name.

mathanxiety · 15/06/2025 00:21

If it's between Aurelia and Lily, Aurelia would be my pick.

How would you pronounce it?

Snowyymum · 15/06/2025 00:48

I like Anna/ Annalise
I actually think it would be lovely to have the option of two names and thought of something similar for my wee one
You have ages yet to decide.

bobbyitboo · 15/06/2025 03:05

Annalise is beautiful, it’s been on my list since I was 13 😆 I actually went with Annabelle, which I obviously also love

Jollyjollyjollygoodie · 15/06/2025 03:17

Anna as a name is lovely and classy. Lily is very pretty. Don’t give her a name that’s hard to pronounce correctly and don’t give her a name that she will have to spell for everyone. It’s a right royal pain, I can tell you.

Aria999 · 15/06/2025 03:22

Marianne
Lillian
Liana

I wouldn't get too stressed about it 'going with' DC1 name, you probably don't want them too similar but otherwise does it really matter that much?

to be fair I avoided names for DC2 that started with the same letter as DC1 as I didn't want people to think I matched them on purpose 😁

Aria999 · 15/06/2025 03:29

never liked Anna but like Ana
dislike Aurelia (bit Disney)
don't mind Annalise
Lily - ok but a bit old fashioned (though maybe not any more!)
don't like Adalia but quite like Ada, though there are a lot of them
don't like Charlotte, don't mind Lottie though it's a bit cutesy

Givemethesun · 15/06/2025 03:34

Thank you.
and sorry agree with your comment on dc1. Where I’ve said on this thread I’ve avoided names that don’t go with dc1 I actually mean some names are too similar to dc1 and i want to avoid that as dc2 is a distinct seperate person so I want the name to feel distinctly seperate and not similar at all in vowels or pronounciations.
Appreciate what I’ve written on this thread so far doesn’t articulate that @Aria999

Could lily be a Nn for Aurelia?

DH and I discussed that actually. But decided the only name that we feel on our list actually needs a formal long name is Lottie as to me that is a nn type name. Although looking on baby names data Lottie itself is commonly used just as a first formal name now, but not something we’d feel comfortable with
thank you

I like Annalise and Anna
Charlotte OK - Lottie is very common in dog names
Aurelia too pretentious
Ada reminds me of an old lady
Lily nice but very common see lots of girls with that name

NewLifter · 15/06/2025 08:10

The only one I like is Anna. Charlotte is nice but I really don't like Lottie so that rules it out for me since you want a shorter name.

You've plenty of time to choose!

Congratulations on the pregnancy!
