That actually made me feel really sad, poor boy .

TheFallenMadonna · 20/05/2008 19:13

There was a Tiger in dd's swimming class.

posieflump · 20/05/2008 19:14

they won't know if it's a girl or a boy - like Tiger-Lily Paula Yates' daughetr

finknottle · 20/05/2008 19:14

I haven't got over Basil, 3 yrs old, his older sister Fanny is in dd's swimming class.

hertsnessex · 20/05/2008 19:17

Oh my, poor child!

MadBadandDangeroustoKnow · 20/05/2008 19:17

For similar reasons I didn't call my daughter Grace - some people just don't 'fit' their names and names like Grace and Tiger seem particularly risky!

2point4kids · 20/05/2008 19:18

Dont feel sad! He might grow into it.
Tiger Woods may have been a quiet child too and now he lives up to his name eh!

i laughed at basil and fanny, i don't mind tiger though

2point4kids · 20/05/2008 19:20

For some reason I am quite liking Basil (not Fanny though!). I wouldnt use it myself, but it has a certain appeal!

Tiger Woods is Eldrick Tiger Woods.
Mmm, Eldrick or Tiger?
Think Tiger suits him better

lilolilmanchester · 20/05/2008 19:26

mmm, for a little jokette, just tried to change my posting name to "Tigersmum" and it's already in use..

finknottle · 20/05/2008 19:27

As for Basil and Fanny, these are German children and there appears to be a trend to use English/US names atm.
So with German pronunciation, Fanny is "Venny" and "Sam" is "Zem".
I had a bizarre conversation with dd about Sam where she kept insisting there's no Sam in her group, but there is a Zem...
As for Basil, I'm sorry, it was Fawlty Towers from the start. His mum kept shrieking "Baaaaasil!" and I kept biting my lip and sniggering and his mum probably thinks I'm barking.

TakeMeHome · 20/05/2008 22:26

I was about to type "I love Fanny" but I got a strange look (and saucy wink) from my husband !

DH wanted to call our son Shepherd if we had a boy. Thank god we had girls.

rofl @ TakeMeHome (Is that name taken from "Take Me Home Or Lose Me Forever"?)

Cecy · 20/05/2008 23:13

Oh, poor boy.
I can't imagine it suiting an adult either - the embarrassment!

ninedragons · 21/05/2008 03:42

Poor bugger. Is it some sort of ironic nickname, do you think?

Husband and I were gleefully discussing the day our DD starts school and brings home her class list. We are looking forward to hours of sniggering after she's gone to bed at all the Tigers and the Tiiammiis in her class.

Tiger in dd's class. Lovely boy, lovely family. Strange at first, but not now, not at all really. He's super. Feel q offended on her behalf by this thread!
