Hey all

Just found we're having a little girl. Already have a 6 year old boy, Archie. This little lass is an IVF baby <3 We have a few names we like but interested to hear thoughts and new suggestions. I really love Alba but upon googling it, wow I didn't expect it to be so divisive! I thought all alba's were just cool chicks. People seem to be outraged by the name :D

Other thoughts
-Evelyn (means 'wished for child', IVF baby, cute) - issue is might shorten to Evie and that is my god daughter who I see frequently
-Iris
-Ivy
-Mollie/Millie?
-Annie
-Hope

Any thoughts?!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

How about Mabel? That means ‘lovable’ which is quite a sweet meaning and I think it goes well with Archie. Many congratulations! X

Archie and Megan

(I am slightly biased because we had dogs with those names and they were the greatest canine double-act ever)

Hmm.. I think this isn’t a good pairing due to the Prince Harry connection!

spiderlight · 14/05/2025 17:42

Oh yes - hadn't thought of that!

okydokethen · 14/05/2025 17:42

Archie and Izzy would be nice too

Stanislas · 14/05/2025 17:44

I did so want to offer Mehitabel as a suggestion but I won’t.

Moreteaandchocolate · 14/05/2025 18:38

Iris, Ivy, Annie and Millie / Molly are my favourites- all lovely. Evelyn nn Evie is very overused round us and I’m not keen on Hope.

I’d pick Ivy, Iris or Annie I think - can’t choose between them!

Trundleloop · 14/05/2025 17:12

I was going to suggest Emmeline (Emme/Emmy for short) but think it could be close to your name @emmyloo25 !!

I like Archie & Hope from your list.
Also like Archie & Corah, Archie & Eliza and Archie & Hazel.

Edited

Archie and Eliza is cute!!! And yes I’m an Emma (but family call me Emmy!) 🤣

Honestly my husband has said similar when it’s been on my lists before 😂 so I guess I was hoping I could live vicariously through someone else but not to be! Lots of other lovely names on this thread though x

Really like Evelyn. We have an Evelyn in the family and never gone by Evie, just Evelyn or Ev.

Iris and Ivy are too common for me. I work in a nursery and theres loads. Prefer Iris of the 2 too.

Love Hope too, especially as a first name as a bit different.

Mollie/Millie are ok. Much prefer Evelyn though.

I do like Annie too, but prefer Anna or Anne. Also like Alba.

Evelyn and hope either way around sounds lovely I think.

Sorry not much help as you have a good list!
My order of preference is:

Hope
Evelyn
Alba

Magicboobies · 14/05/2025 19:51

My DD is Annie ❤️
I also love Delilah, Eliana, Eloise, Lucia, Polly

savethatkitty · 14/05/2025 19:53

Amy.
Adalynne/Adelaide
Aurora

ButtonMoonBlanketSky · 14/05/2025 20:19

Not keen on Alba. I think Annie is lovely but would go with Annabel and just shorten to Annie. Annabel Honor sounds pretty.

WtafIsThat · 14/05/2025 20:40

Please no more Evies…

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 14/05/2025 20:45

Harriet, nn Hattie?

Katypp · 14/05/2025 20:51

Why do people think names that sound 'cute' are a good thing?
You do realise the OP is naming an actual person, who will be an adult for far, far longer than she will be an baby/toddler.
How many 60-year-old women want a 'cute' name? Clue: None

PigletMum40 · 14/05/2025 20:57

Lilibet?

writingsonthewall · 14/05/2025 21:04

Poppy

Lilibet?

I don’t think I’d ever live down calling my two children exactly the same names as Harry and Meghan 🤣 in my defence i did name my Archie about 6 months before Meghan gave birth!!
