I have a 1 year old. From baby groups and nursery we've met lots of different names, not that many with the same name though.

We have encountered more than 1 of these names:
Theo
Arthur
Sophie
Ottilie (x 3 at nursery which I was surprised about)

Other names:
Seb
Lucas
Michael
Harry
Rory
George
Noah
Ezra
James
Cody
Kian
Bobby
Emilia
Olivia
Amelia
Liberty
Elsie
Alina
Maeva
Meadow

We are in Northern England

I'm in Australia & saw a news piece about the 10 most popular last week:
BOYS
Oliver
Noah
Theodore
Henry
Luca
Leo
Hudson
Charlie
Jack
William

GIRLS
Charlotte
Amelia
Isla
Olivia
Mia
Hazel
Harper
Matilda
Sophie
Grace

Love that Hazel got in there! Dead Nanna would be thrilled!

I've a child in grade 3 and it's a real blend of old school classic names and made-up bogan names. There's a Prudence, Ignatius, Arthur and then the Ammaiyah, Jaxsynn etc.

I'm in Melbourne and can swear this is an Ottilie-free zone! I've never heard Ottilie anywhere in Australia and don't even know how to pronounce it. However, we do have a whole lotta these round my way:

Eva, Evie, Evelyn, Ava, Eloise, Sophie, Sophia, Isabel/Isabella, Olivia, Lily, Maya, Zoe, Abigail/Abbie, Lucy, Charlotte, Emily.

Hugo, Lucas, Carey, Angus, Lachlan, Thomas, Harry, George, William, Jacob.

These names are still Top 20-ish a generation or more after they became popular, so kudos to them for longevity.

When my kids were little, we moved counties and I was surprised by the difference. In old school, we had lots of Megan’s, Rhys/Reece, Callum, Sophie, Amy , in the new school, there were none. ( in England, not Wales).

Popularity definitely changes from area to area and can change quickly over time. You'll get a huge pocket of a certain name in your town for a few years. Then everyone starts avoiding it as they're sick of hearing it, but it'll only just be taking off elsewhere in the country.

The Maeve/Margot craze hasn't hit us yet, but I know they're currently massive elsewhere in the country. Current national top 10 names which have never really been popular around me (yet) include Ava, Amelia, Isabella, George, Henry, Theo/Theodore, Arthur. Lily is currently top 5, nationally, but I feel my area exhausted that trend about 15 years ago!

Hi 👋 I'm from Melbourne too but in Sth Gippsland now. I conccur on Ottilie... never met one..think it's pronounced O-tilly?

A few of the names you mention are here at school too. Longevity must count for something!

Meanwhile some of the poor kids' names require a straight face. "Hi Sarrgye, do you want to come over for a play date?". Pronounced ''Sarge'. Umm, ok.

In my last area (still in England not wales) everyone and their mum was an Evelyn. It’s never appealed to my personally but I appreciate names are subjective.

also Bonnie is what everyone I know is calling their dogs where I am now. Friends, neighbours, DC’s friends, school mums etc and the dogs always the same biscuit coloured cocker spaniel (I think)
