I would like your honest opinion about these two names for a suntanned baby girl:

Alexa or Daniela.
Do you consider them to be nice names, too trendy, too strange or plain ugly.

Many thanks!!

I like Alexa, but prefer it as Alexia. Not keen on Daniella, but theres a reason for that

Lulumama · 16/05/2008 18:38

suntanned? eh?

they are nice names

definitely not trendy, IFYKWIM

we had alexia on the list for DS if he had been a girl.

but he wasn;t!

Jojay · 16/05/2008 18:39

Lovely, both of them

sawyerisyummy · 16/05/2008 18:39

Alexa lovely

Nancy66 · 16/05/2008 18:40

Do you mean mixed race?

Alexa is ok - she's bound to get called Alex though.

Don't like Daniela though because:

1)that's now how you spell it

2)makes me think of Daniella Westbrook

lilolilmanchester · 16/05/2008 18:40

Definitely not strange - infact a bit different without being weird IMO.

I don't like Alexa or Lexia or any of those names.

Daniela I like though. An unusual choice without being at all weird. Pretty.

HATE Danny though. And Danni with a love heart over the i.

There is an Italian name 'Aniela'. AnYELLA.
wdytot?

i presume you've spelt daniela with one l on purpose as you've done it twice? i love daniella, not sure about daniela.
like alexa too.

DD is Danni-Ella, we hyphonated it because I hate the way people say dan-yella, the way it's spelt people pronounce it properly, we call her Ella though.

DS2 is Alexander, was possibly going to be Alexandra or Alexia, not as keen on Alexa though, Nice shortened to Lexie.

Seashell71 · 16/05/2008 18:44

Alexa makes me think of a s&m mistress name, don't know why! Daniela is beautiful imo!

EyeballsintheSky · 16/05/2008 18:52

Niece's (5yo) best friend is Alexa - it's the only name I flippin' hear! Nice though.

Not so keen on Daniela (which incidentally is the correct spelling in some countries - I went to school with a Romanian girl who spelled it like that)

RustyBear · 16/05/2008 18:54

I know a Portuguese girl called Daniela with one l

ElizabethBeresfordSW19 · 16/05/2008 19:30

And the 'churmans' spell it with one l. Looks cleaner and less frilly with one l.

twinklytoes · 16/05/2008 19:52

love alexia but I'm biased

CantSleepWontSleep · 16/05/2008 19:53

I like Daniella with 2 'l's, but not with one, as she'd have it spelt wrong her whole life.

So so about Alexa, but strangely like Alexis.

brimfull · 16/05/2008 19:55

Daniella is lovely

I had a lovely friend called Daniella ,I like it much more than Danielle.

JackieNo · 16/05/2008 19:58

I like both .

WendyWeber · 16/05/2008 19:59

Alexa was a book/slightly naughty TV prog in the 70s (?) - forget who by - but it is a nice name, actually.

DD1 had a friend called Alexa when she was little, the only one I ever knew of - they moved away but she was a pleasant child.

We also know a girl called Alexis, but she lives in California.

WestCountryLass · 16/05/2008 20:10

Both Alexa and Daniela are lovely names!

slinkiemalinki · 18/05/2008 22:34

Alexa is nice, and very noughties I think, although sounds a bit like you are hopping on the Alexa Chung fanclub train (a la Scarletts and Keiras springing up everywhere). Maybe not to anyone else - obviously I read Sunday Times Style too much as nobody else has mentioned her...!
Daniela just makes me think Westbrook and Burberry babies... eek no, no no! Sorry
