Felicity, Lilah or Grace?

Ettm7 · 11/04/2025 18:06

Hi everyone,
We've just had a baby girl and are torn between a few names. Would love to get some thoughts on them!
Our top contenders are Felicity or Lilah, with Grace as the middle name, or Grace as the first name with an alternative middle name.
What do you think?
Other names we liked are Siena/Sienna, Margot and Clara.

Clara Felicity or Felicity Margot

chocolatelover91 · 11/04/2025 22:58

Grace is lovely! I was in school with someone who has Ashely as the middle name! Thought it was so elegant 🥰

LoudPlumDog · 11/04/2025 23:43

Love Grace, Clara and Felicity.

Grace Felicity
Grace Clara

JacketPotatoAvecFromage · 11/04/2025 23:43

Congratulations!

I love the name Margot. Margot Grace sounds beautiful. I also like Grace or Felicity as a first name.

Have you considered Meredith?

Catlord · 11/04/2025 23:50

Felicity is beautiful, Grace is nice but so very popular, I won't give equivalent examples so as not to be rude but people often comment on having a common name and wishing they'd had something a bit more interesting, Margot is nice, sienna is dated, I don't like the spelling of Lilah, Clara isn't to my taste but classic

Felicity Clara?

Nottogetapenny · 12/04/2025 00:10

The name Felicity is of Latin origin and means "happiness" or "good fortune" My niece is called Felicity, it’s a lovely name. She gets Flissy or Fliss from her friends.
i also like Margot, and Grace as middle names.

twilightermummy · 12/04/2025 00:12

I absolutely love the names Felicity, Margot and Clara. We must be similar as I love all the names that you've put forward!
Enjoy your little girl ❤️

Bowling4soup · 12/04/2025 00:28

Is it pronounced ly-la or lee-la ? I’d be unsure, so maybe consider that some people might not know how to pronounce it.

i like felicity, fliss as a nickname is adorable

CheeseAndHamToastieAndCrisps · 12/04/2025 01:07

Love Felicity.

Grace is soooo over done as a middle name. It’s literally every girls middle name, it’s been done to death.

My faves, inspired from your list ..

Clare Felicity
Grace Felicity
Felicity Clara
Lila Margaret
Liberty Clara

ElephantWhispers · 12/04/2025 03:33

Such lovely names!! My favourite is Clara, but I also really love Felicity and the nickname Fliss. Quite like Lilah but agree with other posters that I would spell it without the h.

I actually love Grace as a middle name, especially if she happened to be born on a Tuesday ... 'Tuesday's child is full of grace'.

Unexpectedlysinglemum · 12/04/2025 08:35

Lila grace

VenusClapTrap · 12/04/2025 09:09

All lovely names except Lilah, which I dislike.

My favourite is Margot; surprised to hear it described as overly popular, there aren’t any at my dc school.

Felicity is beautiful but its length means it will probably get shortened, which is a shame. It seems a shame to give a beautiful name and then not use it.

I feel like Sasha and Saskia belong on your list too.

I like Lilah. Margot's are a bit rife and I'm of an age where it reminds me of the fussy one on The Good Life. Sienna would be my next favourite.

I too can't help thinking of Penelope Keith in the good life when I hear the name Margot!
I don't know if that's why I don't like it but for some reason it really grates on me.
I like all the others
But OP it doesn't matter what we think they are all good names choose whichever you prefer and congratulations!

JustLikeThatBluebird · 12/04/2025 09:16

Lila is the nicest but without the h.

Emanwenym · 12/04/2025 14:08

It's better without the h, but I really don't like it. It makes me think of Lilo.

GiddyCrab · 12/04/2025 21:15

Lilah Grace. Beautiful. Congratulations

ThisFluentBiscuit · 12/04/2025 21:22

Sienna and Lilah are trashy. Grace is pretentious. Margot is awful - might as well call her Doris or Deirdre. Clara's really nice. In the US they butcher it and pronounce it as Clerra, like they pronounce Tara as Terror. But if you're not in the US, not to worry.

My choice is Felicity. I think it's a lovely name. Felicity Clara. Or Felicity Grace sounds nice. I think Grace is better as a middle name than a first name.

Meredith's an ugly name imo.

THATbasicgirl · 12/04/2025 21:25

Felicity is lovely

Also bringing to the table ..... Verity

Emanwenym · 12/04/2025 14:08

It's better without the h, but I really don't like it. It makes me think of Lilo.

Makes me think of liable or liability. Lilo too. But then, I don't like names that are close to nouns. Like Meg, which sounds like egg, or Olivia, which sounds like both olive and liver.

You don't hear of many Fionas now, which is a pity. I think it's a tasteful name which doesn't sound like an object or foodstuff.

Nah, Felicity's better. All those Quaker names like Grace, Patience, Constance, Faith, Verity, Prudence....all of them sound a bit weird and robotic imo.

Springley · 13/04/2025 02:00

Grace

BoleynMemories13 · 13/04/2025 12:20

Congratulations!

Grace wins for me. It's a timeless classic.

I do like Lila, but only spelt this way or Lyla. Lilah just looks like a nn for Delilah. I don't see the point in the h, otherwise. I agree that she will blend in with all the Layla, Lola, Lyra, Lara names though.

I don't mind Clara, but prefer Lara. See the above for the same problem though!

Felicity is nice, but a bit fussy for me.

Margot will be really faddy. It has had an explosion in popularity in recent years. Names which rocket that quickly usually become tied to that era. In years to come, everyone will instantly guess Margot was a 20s baby.

Sienna isn't for me, at all. It's very trendy around me, and I don't know a single nice one to be honest. Name association is a big thing, and sadly I associate this name with little madams.

Grace Felicity would be nice.

Most haven't made it to school yet. Margot exploded in popularity around 2021/2022.

It could be an area thing too. It's not that popular around me, but I live and work in an area which is multicultural and largely deprived. Many of the statistically popular names aren't overly common around me. Margot is definitely one of the in trends in more leafier, predominantly white areas though.

The trouble with name trends which rise so rapidly is that most people who pick those names think they're being really original, as "we don't know of any others". With names like that, you wouldn't really unless you worked with under 5s. By the time those kids reach school age, people start avoiding the name as "omg there are so many of them!", so they tend to fall away again.
