Felix or Fraser for baby boy

We can't decide between Felix or Fraser for our baby boy. Which should we go for?

Felix - we really like the name, and love the fact that it means lucky/happy. Also like that it can't really be shortened. But we're worried about the cat association. Also, does it sound a bit 'try hard' posh?

Fraser - we really like the name. We feel it might be odd for us to call him this as we have no links at all to Scotland. Also, we're slightly worried about it being spelt Frazer or being pronounced Frasier. Also, wondered if it's likely this would get shortened to 'Fraz' as a nickname (which we don't really like).

Thoughts?

In Felix Mendelsohn’s country Felix is/was not ever a cat food brand 🐈 🐈‍⬛

People aren't idiots for having opinions that are different to yours, @DeciDela .

Thank you for voting and for all the feedback. We aren't sure which name we'll go for yet, but really appreciate hearing your different perspectives😊

Felix cat food is displayed in every UK supermarket, whereas hoovers are not.

But they are the hoover of choice for most shops.

I know a boy called Felix. The family spoke German at home and wanted a name that could be pronounced in the UK and Germany. The cat food thing has never been an issue.

I know loads of teenage Frasers- some are generally known by their surnames amongst their mates to differentiate but there's only one known as Fraz out of them. I think its a brilliant name but we are in Scotland where Fraser/Calum/Finlay were definitely the names of choice 15-20 years ago!!

Felix by a mile for me: a fun, happpy, cheerful name and minimal cat associations now there are many little kids called Felix around. Not posh.

Fraser to me seems very serious and try-hard posh, partic as you’re not Scottish. Plus the Fraser I know was always pissed off by pronunciation issues.

Felix just makes me think of cat food, but not a massive fan of Fraser either, I have to say.

I would go with Frederick nn. Freddie.

Cannot move for Freddies around here - don’t do it OP!

Fraser is a great name and the ones I know are known as Fraser. Like House of Fraser. Its a great underused classic!
