I read it as Parsley!

BoleynMemories13 · 08/04/2025 13:06

I'm not sure how you can't instantly think "Elvis' upon hearing Presley. I'm very dubious that you apparently hadn't even thought of the link. Your poor child will have to put up with comments all his life. It's dreadful.

Archer isn't my style, but is far preferable.

Missbee129 · 08/04/2025 13:13

@BoleynMemories13 i think referring to my child as poor on a name idea is a bit nasty! It was an idea not a definite

Aston sounds good.
Spencer I'm not so sure on.

MiddleAgedDread · 08/04/2025 13:17

I would have assumed Presley was a girl too. I don't like Archer but I think it works quite well with you other names.

Why does the forename have to sound like a surname?

CrownCoats · 08/04/2025 13:22

Missbee129 · 08/04/2025 11:42

I am not a fan of elvis Presley didn’t even think of him

You didn’t think of Elvis when you heard the name Presley?! Pull the other one.

YABU - they’re both surnames.

Whoarethoseguys · 08/04/2025 13:23

It sounds as though you like surnames as first names somehow about
Cooper
Harrison
Franklin
Casey
Hudson
Carter
Jackson

Thanks everyone for the suggestions and the people who weren’t so nasty and gave honest but fair opinions!

not gonna look at the thread anymore feel some people are getting slightly nasty over a name idea. I get it’s not your choice fine but no not sorry I didn’t think of a singer who’s been dead for god knows how long who’s music I don’t listen to nor like or anyone else around me for that matter. It was supposed to be just to get some ideas of what people thought think you’ve made your feelings clear

Not nasty, just intended to make you think. If someone refering to your child as 'poor child' at just the suggestion of you using the name annoys you, just think how many times people will annoy you if it became a reality. If you can't handle my comment, Presley definitely isn't the name for you.

I'm not intending to be nasty, I'm just giving you a taste of reality. The poor child (yes I would think 'poor child' if I met a Presley) would be saddled with the name for life. The Elvis comments would be never ending. Do you really want that for you and him? You say you hadn't even thought of the Elvis link, well maybe people pointing it out to you is a good thing then. That's what this board is for. It's not use to people if they only hear positive comments. If someone thinks using a particular name would be a mistake, they're going to say so.

marchmash · 08/04/2025 14:26

Reid? I think that would go nicely with the older brothers' names. Or what about Preston? That has the similar sound to Presley and is a nice 'manly' name.

I like Archer. Other surname type names I've come across recently:
Riley
Oakley
Hudson
Elwood
Byron
Jensen
Jackson
Mason
Edison
Wilson

Pinkpuffins · 12/04/2025 13:13

Presley and Archer are gorgeous boy names. Younger generations definitely don’t directly think Elvis anymore! Love these American style ones. I think archer goes best with your other kiddos names but both are not out of place and I think are growing in popularity

Reddelilah · 12/04/2025 13:41

Archer as in someone using an arch🏹 ?? That’s an awful name imo

Presley is better imo

GiddyCrab · 14/04/2025 23:32

Archer. Though I wouldn't use either.
