Angus or Alexander are my favourite.

I don’t mind Fraser but prefer the others

mumonthehill · 01/04/2025 15:39

I have an Angus!! He goes by Gus most of the time and I still love it!!

Needspaceforlego · 01/04/2025 15:39

Oh tough choices. And I have one of them.

I'm going to give you something to think about, Angus & Fraser can both be first or surname, if your surname is similar Martin, Stuart, Mitchell etc I'd maybe go Alexander.

Just so they avoid the question is it Angus Martin or Martin Angus etc

Or wait until he's here and see what he looks like. Naming a baby is the hardest thing.

Alexander

BootballJoy · 01/04/2025 16:49

Angus or Alexander

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 01/04/2025 16:49

Fraser definitely.

Strokethefurrywall · 01/04/2025 16:56

Fraser

RedOnyx · 02/04/2025 09:10

Alexander is a nice name but I know way too many Alexs - two just Alex, two short for Alexandra and four Alexanders. I also know an Alexandra who goes by Alexa.

Fraser is my favourite of your three.

YogaMumOfTwo · 02/04/2025 09:12

Angus, but all seem lovely. traditional names are definitely making a come back!

Chocaholic1216 · 02/04/2025 09:13

Alex. Really like that name for a boy

Gingernut1989 · 02/04/2025 14:33

Great Scottish names. My favourite is Fraser

Ab1ga1L3 · 02/04/2025 17:46

I like Gus but not Angus. Alexander is gorgeous.

IberianBird · 02/04/2025 17:51

Fraser.
Angus reminds me of beef and I view it as of a "old man" name.
Alex, too popular

PluckyBamboo · 02/04/2025 18:04

Fraser, maybe a tad old fashioned, I know quite a few that are teenagers.

Angus - I like but really dislike Gus

Alexander - can't go wrong with that classic and several nn. options.

What about Fergus?

Differentstarts · 02/04/2025 18:08

Alex then Fraser I really dislike Angus

SunDey · 02/04/2025 18:19

Alexander, can't go wrong. Love Sandy for a shortening, not keen on Xander. Alex is a classic for a reason though!

If you are in Scotland, it is quite popular with babies just now but it was 40 years ago too so clearly defies the usual naming cycle!

Angus and Fraser also nice. Angus feels a bit more popular just now.

RememberEveryMoment · 02/04/2025 20:10

I like Alexander. I don’t like Fraser or Angus at all.

WellFilledLeggings · 02/04/2025 20:15

Love all those choices. Alexander is my fave - biased because I have one myself - but Fraser is a close 2nd. And Angus 3rd but still great choice.

Clearinguptheclutter · 02/04/2025 20:17

Ha this was basically my list.
Scottish dh so a very Scottish surname that went well with these names

My favourite was Fraser but my (snobby) dm put me right off it by saying it “sounds like he comes from a council estate”. Yes that’s an awful thing to say but she said it. I had to knock out Fraser as she clearly wouldn’t get over it if I choose that. I think it’s a nice name.

angus has slight old man vibes but that’s quite trendy these days .

alexander is a classic but a bit unoriginal. We used it as a middle name.

Fleur405 · 02/04/2025 20:17

Love Angus.

DiscoBeat · 02/04/2025 20:23

1st: Alexander
2nd: Angus
685th: Fraser (I hate names that are more common as surnames!)

TheeNotoriousPIG · 02/04/2025 20:39

Alexander is fabulous!
