Names to go with this middle name...

Currently pregnant with my second baby, not sure on gender yet but my partner and I both agreed that if baby is a boy we would love my dad's name to be the middle name which is Carl but can't think of names that flow or go with it.

Thanks for any suggestions.

You could also use the English version, Charles.

My son has my father’s name as a middle name and like Carl it’s difficult to use as a middle name because it’s a one syllable name. We found that adding a second middle name with more syllables helped a lot to balance it out

So for example
Edward Carl William surname
Teddy Carl Andrew surname
Bodhi Carl Oliver surname
Sebastian Carl Benjamin surname
Dominic Carl Frederick surname

To me most things would flow fine with it. I think just pick a first name you love and don't worry too much about middle name flow anyway, better you love the first name. Hardly anyone knows anyone elses middle name.

I know a little Xavier Charles which flows quite nicely and will not date as he grows into an adult.

Pick any first name that goes with the surname. Unless you have a common surname and pick a popular first name, the middle name will hardly ever be used.

You could use Carl as the first name. It's the most popular boy's name in Denmark.

FancyBrickPoster · 27/03/2025 04:33

I think it sounds nicer with a first name that either ends in a vowel or a soft consonant.

Elias Carl
Anthony Carl
Joshua Carl
Jesse Carl
Jeremy Carl
Leo Carl
Wesley Carl
Milo Carl
Timothy Carl
Zachary Carl
Nathaniel Carl
Matthew Carl

All of these also work with Charles, and although not a vowel, I think Damien Carl is also quite nice.
