Oh dear Lord, now I completely understand why you wouldn't give a child the same name. Poppy was one of our potential names for my DC2 if it is a girl - but after this, no way

Poppy is a lovely name.

The dog won't live forever.

My parents told me that I was named after a dog, it was a joke said in passing, apparently, but I believed it to be true for about 30 years. It didn't scar me for life!

Poppy is lovely go for it, it is not like it his his ex-s name,
now that would be a whole different kettle of fish!

Poppy is number 1 on my list if I'm having a girl, forget the dog and go for it.
