My friends dd is a Claudia also shortened to Claudie

i know someone who's daughter is a claudie, it's really lovely on her imo.

i know a claudia shortened to clo. doesn't sound no where near as nice- but her big bro called it her and it has stuck (she is 30+ now).

Then only Claudia I know goes by a surname based nickname.

A Claudia will get called Claude

My best friend is Claudia and she uses Claud as a shortening. You could also try Dee if you like it.

If it's any help, on Strictly Come Dancing Claudia Winkleman is often called Claud

Well it doesn't have to be shortened - I know a family with a Claudia and they always calls her Claudia (it's a very pretty name )

I don't see why it has to be shortened.

If they don't shorten it, someone else probably will. You might as well pick a shortening you like.
