Hello lovely people!

I am struggling to decide a name for my son who is due in a months time! My current top names are Jude and Sebastian. Both names go equally well with the surname. I would absolutely love to know your thoughts. Other name recommendations are welcomed too!

Sebastian to me will always be the crab from the little mermaid. Sebby as a nn I think is horrible so that would put me off.

Sebastian Flyte for me.

Emanwenym · 07/03/2025 11:10

I dislike both. Sebastian is the better of the two.

FrenzyFriend · 07/03/2025 11:13

I like Jude. I dislike Sebastian very much.

NearlyThere91 · 07/03/2025 12:38

Much prefer Jude!

Outd00rs · 07/03/2025 13:06

Don’t really like either - but sebastian is better but I also don’t to uni with one and he was called bast**rd for short (by horrible friends obvs but even so it now reminds me of that) - Jude is very popular where we live - there is three at our very small nursery and I would hate my kids to have a trendy name with stacks of them in one class. Similar ish names - Tobias? Elliot? Julian? Miles? jasper?

Mirabai · 07/03/2025 13:13

Like both. Prefer Sebastian. Seb and Bas are good nns.

Theoldwoman · 07/03/2025 13:21

Sebastian!!

What about:

Elijah
Elliot
Oliver

Bowling4soup · 08/03/2025 00:42

Jude!

Really not keen on Seb/bas as nicknames

PonyPals · 08/03/2025 06:29

Sebastian is such a beautiful name! Jude makes me think of the word Rude

ArmyBarbie · 08/03/2025 06:37

I like them both but there are loads of little Judes around whereas I only know one Sebastian (Sebby) and he's the wonderful little boy of a good friend so it's a very positive association for me. So I'd go with Sebastian.

Love both

Particularly Jude. But if you've read any Thomas Hardy, Jude would be a no-go (if you haven't, don't read Jude the Obscure!!)

Good luck and congratulations :)

Unfortunately Seb Isn't nice. It sounds so soft and oily (sebaceous). Shame because the full name is ok.

Therefore I'd choose Jude

Agree

Dazedandconfusedma · 08/03/2025 06:56

I like both a lot… probably because Jude makes me think of Jude Law, and Sebastian makes me think of the hot guy in the year above me when I was at school 😁

Lassango · 08/03/2025 07:32

There will be so many Judes of the same age. So Sebastian.

MissedItByThisMuch · 08/03/2025 07:40

Sebastian definitely! Jude is very of-the-moment. Sebastian more classic.

Read Jude the Obscure many times. Like the name Jude for that very reason, great novel.

I love Sebastian,

I’ve never liked Jude.
