I’ve done so many of these and I’m still undecided! Which name do you prefer and think goes best with big brother Caleb. Thanks!

Asher
Joel
Jesse
Jude

Love Asher.

Joel is nice.

Jesse is OK but maybe a bit weird in Scotland, where some people misogynists and homophobes insist on using "jessie" to mean an insufficiently (to them) masculine man.

Jude just makes me think of the patches Jews were forced to wear in Nazi Germany.

Asher

WaltzingWaters · 02/03/2025 05:30

Love Asher. Jude too but quite popular. I like Jesse also. Not too keen on Joel.

graceinc22 · 02/03/2025 06:15

are you me?? These are some of my favourite boys names. Gave one of them to my baby son. And when we've talked about names for a potential second, I've loved Caleb. Good luck whatever you choose ❤️

PrincessOfPreschool · 02/03/2025 07:23

You will get a lot of variety in responses!

I would say Jude is most popular although they're is only one in DS school year of 180.
I love Jesse as it's such a cool name but you need to be cool and confident to carry it off (my DS2 could, DS1 not so much).
I love Joel
Asher, again need to be a bit cool I think.

I know brothers called Caleb, Judah and Levi.

sixtiesbaby88 · 02/03/2025 07:30

Jude or Jesse
Alternatively maybe Jonah or Johan

ClassicStripe · 02/03/2025 07:35

My son is called Joel. I love it so much. I love how the letters look together. All the names work well with Caleb.

Comtesse · 02/03/2025 08:12

Joel is ok, don’t like the others sorry.

timoteigirl · 02/03/2025 09:38

Joel

Apollo365 · 02/03/2025 09:40

Jesse 👌🏼
I used to like Jude but I don’t like the meaning.

Emanwenym · 02/03/2025 12:53

Joel. Asher will be Ash, Jesse you big jessie, and I know only female Judes.

KAZ2Y5 · 02/03/2025 16:14

Asher gets my vote, although I admit, I'm biased. My next choice would be Joel.

Lavalamping · 02/03/2025 17:43

I love Asher and Jesse, Asher probably my favourite. I do like Jude but it seems to be everywhere suddenly. Joel is nice but I find it a bit dull compared to your other options.

Mailys · 02/03/2025 17:46

Asher, Asher , Asher! And love the biblical meaning - happy, blessed.
Such a nice name for baby, child, teen and grown man

Hoolihan · 02/03/2025 17:50

Like all of them, favourite is Asher. Such a lovely word to say.

Coloursofthewind2 · 02/03/2025 19:16

Ashley (not Asher) or Joel get my vote. I don't mind Jude but would be concerned that the name doesn't travel well.

Fontainebleau007 · 02/03/2025 19:20

Asher

SwedishEdith · 02/03/2025 19:21

I really like them all.

Jesse would have been our boy choice 20 years ago.
Love Asher and Jude.
Joel is nice but I work with loads of them.

Lilyrudi93 · 03/03/2025 20:28

Thanks everyone,

I have the same worries with Jude being very popular at the moment. It’s slightly lost its charm for me. :( Ezra was our top name for Caleb but the same thing happened to that name!

front runners at the moment are Asher and Joel. My husband isn’t that keen on Jesse :(

I love Gabriel too but feel it doesn’t sound that good with Caleb?

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 04/03/2025 12:21

Actually Gabriel sounds the best with Caleb imo - same repeated “ay” and “l” sounds linking them and is another more recently popular Biblical name; but being different starting letters and number of syllables, it’s not too samey.

Emanwenym · 04/03/2025 12:37

Gabriel with Caleb will be Cay and Gay

Pillarsofsalt · 04/03/2025 12:38

Asher. Great name.

EmiliaRuusuvuori · 04/03/2025 12:41

Asher is lovely.

crazycrofter · 04/03/2025 12:43

I clicked on here to tell you that I love all those names - and now I see that you have a Caleb too, like me! We obviously have the same taste in names.. I only have a boy and a girl though, so not sure what I'd have chosen for another boy. The only concern I have about Jesse is people might think it's the girls' name Jessie. I think I'd probably go for Jude, as I know two Joels so mine wouldn't be unique! Or Asher.... or how about Asa? Or Josiah?

KayEmAy · 04/03/2025 21:59

You can't choose wrong but my personal order of preference:

  1. Asher
  2. Jesse
  3. Joel
  4. Jude
