Still stuck on names

Hello! Still stuck on names for DD who is coming soon. We've narrowed it down a bit but I'm just not loving anything and tempted to let DH name her at this rate! What do you think of our list of potentials? We live in London 😊

Clara
Robyn Elisabeth
Amber Elisabeth
Rose Elizabeth

Clara - I don't like it
Robyn Elisabeth - not keen. Is the Elisabeth spelling for a reason?
Amber Elisabeth - lovely
Rose Elizabeth - Rose seems a bit drab

I think Amber is lovely and unexpected these days. It looks nice, sounds nice and has a nice association.

Rose is nice enough but quite popular and seems to be around 50% of baby girls middle name these days.

Robyn is nice enough, I just prefer Robin on a boy. I do know a baby Robyn

Thank you all for your comments so far! I like the look of Elisabeth - it just seems softer to me but not something I'd lose sleep over if it was the Z spelling.

Amber seems a bit of a marmite name from what I've read. I've seen some refer to it as a 'chavvy' name and whilst I love the name I do remember a girl from school who was pretty vile called Amber so it doesn't help 😅

Rose is my safe name. Timeless and pretty but as others have said a bit ... Meh.

Clara - recently started liking this name 🙂

Robyn - this is my DH choice. I prefer the Robin spelling but I also think it's quite masculine. I don't particularly like the y in the name but I know that's how it's often spelt in the feminine form in the UK.

I'm looking for something feminine, classy but not too twee but then again not too strong if that even exists 😆

What about Ellie Rose? A variant of Elizabeth and Rose. Both that you like?

Rose or Clara.
and Elizabeth with a z I think looks much nicer.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 07/02/2025 22:56

I love Rose - romantic, elegant, super classic and timeless so makes a great pairing with Elisabeth for the middle (the S spelling won’t be as big an issue in the middle, since she’s not using it on a daily basis). If it’s not interesting enough for you then I think Rosa, Rosanna and Rosalie are all a bit more uncommon and would still have me the obvious Rose sound for a nn if wanted.

Clara is nice enough - slightly trendy as a Victorian style comeback (like Ada, Mabel etc) but it still has a classic sound so that’s a big bonus imo.

Amber and Robyn have nice sounds too but I must admit they feel a bit 70’s/80’s to me for some reason.

Anna, Julia, Louisa, Helena or Elena, Nina, Cecilia or Celia, Lara, Sara - all have similar classic or international vibes to Clara, Rose and Elisabeth for me if that helps.

Clara is adorable.
Briony Elisabeth?

marshmallowfinder · 08/02/2025 00:28

Amber is the best of the list. A really lovely name.

paranoiaofpufflings · 08/02/2025 00:39

Clara - I'm so bored of seeing it mentioned everywhere, that puts me off.
Rose - invisible

I like Robyn Elizabeth or Robyn Amber.

applemelons · 08/02/2025 10:28

Robyn, no brainer :)

CameronLasora · 08/02/2025 17:49

Clara is timeless, Robyn Elisabeth flows beautifully, and Rose Elizabeth is classic. Lovely choices!

Quoolington · 08/02/2025 17:52

I personally wouldn’t use anything where a child has to spell the name correctly for people, so for me Robyn and Elisabeth are out.

All the other names are lovely.
