Hard no to the first.

Is the second pronounced Georgie? Or Spanish pronunciation?

Aurora is fine, but Disney.

RosesAndHellebores · 05/02/2025 20:29

Not keen op but my tastes are probably just different to yours. I prefer simple, classic names. Georgia to your Jorgie. Louisa to your Luella. Aurora just doesn't work for me.

Pomegranatemum · 05/02/2025 20:31

I’ve always loved Aurora. Or Aurelia.

Definite no to Luella from me though.

Emanwenym · 05/02/2025 20:31

Luella - it's ok but a bit remeniscent of Suella
Jorgie - seriously? Georgie is ok
Aurora - awful

Same. Of the three, I’d pick Georgie, but only if spelt like that!

SkaneTos · 05/02/2025 20:57

I am not very familiar with the names Luella and Jorgie, so I would choose the name Aurora. Very pretty name!

BootballJoy · 05/02/2025 20:58

Of those three Aurora for sure.

KayEmAy · 05/02/2025 21:00

Love Aurora - I think it's lovely

Georgia nn Georgie is absolutely gorgeous. I wouldn’t do Jorgie.

Aurora is a bit “princessy” for my taste but lots of people love it and Rory is a cool nn if she’s not super girly.

Luella is a definite no for me - Cruella vibes.

lurkerchan · 05/02/2025 21:42

Luella is nice, I absolutely love Aurora. Not sure about 'Jorgie' though. But Georgie works :)

Pickandmixusername · 05/02/2025 21:44

Aurora by miles for me. I love it

Jorgie is by far my least favourite of the three.

Mumofgirls2017 · 05/02/2025 22:10

Love aurora

second Luella which I also love!

Mozzarellaballs · 05/02/2025 22:14

I have liked Aurora for a while but not to put you off I do sometimes think if it's a crying baby is it going to be 'A roarer'

mathanxiety · 05/02/2025 23:02

Jorgie is really, really bad. Georgie would be much nicer.

The other two are nice.

Ditto

mummysmagicmedicine · 05/02/2025 23:20

I think Luella is lovely. Not to my personal taste but still a lovely name and was on my list for DD1.
Jorgie I think is a bit of a tacky spelling for Georgie but Georgie is pretty, or Georgia nicknamed Georgie.
Aurora is beautiful

neverthelastone · 05/02/2025 23:26

No to Luella - sorry, but it’s got a very 1980s US Midwest stripper vibe (just being honest!)

Georgie is nice, but I wouldn’t spell it Jorgie. Poor kid would be constantly misspelled by everyone. It doesn’t really make sense as a spelling because the J and the g are both the same sound.

Aurora is lovely, elegant and in a completely different league to the other two names. Rory is also a cute diminutive/nickname for a toddler. I’d definitely go for Aurora of the three.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 05/02/2025 23:49

Aurora is the only one I quite like. It’s becoming more popular/better known these days but it’s a Classical Goddess so still sounds quite elegant to me - and has the obvious Aura/Rory diminutives if it’s too frilly for her or doesn’t suit her.

Georgie (this spelling) is nice enough as a diminutive for Georgia, Georgina etc. Jorgie alone is too unisex for me and will spend her life saying “with a J” imo.

Luella sounds really “Deep American South” to me. Not that it’s a bad thing, simply that I can only visualise it on a country and western singer! I prefer something classic like Louisa but that’s personal taste.

BoleynMemories13 · 06/02/2025 06:26

I think Aurora is quite a marmite name. I'm in the hate it camp I'm afraid. It's not just the Disney princess thing. It just doesn't sound nice to my ears (and is a nightmare for someone with a speech impediment to say. Imagine if your little Aurora can't pronounce her R's?).

Luella is awful too but there are plenty of similar names which are lovely. Just Ella would be preferable, Eloise even nicer.

Jorgie is let down by the spelling. Georgia or Georgina nn Georgie would be nice.

Rosybud88 · 06/02/2025 06:31

Luella - hard pass
Jorgie - not a fan of spelling, I’d go for Georgie.
Aurora - beautiful, love this name and think Rory is a cute nickname

Yes to Georgia or Louisa.

Otherwise, Aurora is a lot better than Jorgia or Luella.

MegTheForgetfulCat · 06/02/2025 06:36

Luella - sorry, this sounds like the name of a disease.
Jorgie - I agree with PP that the spelling is naff. Georgie is fine.
Aurora - l really don't get the love for this name. It looks ok written down and the meaning is nice, but it's a difficult name for a child to say. Aurelia is much nicer IMO.

I like Luella and Aurora! Jorgie is just another spelling of Georgie to me, and not as interesting as the other two.

Snowmanscarf · 06/02/2025 06:39

Luella (pronounced Loo-Ella) - love (do you watch Shakespeare and Hathaway?)
Jorgie - prefer Georgia, Georgette or Georgina, with Jorgie as a nn.
Aurora - ok name
