Help with baby names! Half South Asian/half English

I'm expecting my first child this July. I am of Indian/Sri lankan decent (but born and brought up in England) and my husband is English. We're looking for names that give nod to my South Asian background, but are easy to pronounce/slightly English sounding.

So far we can't agree on names we both like, but have been looking at names like Ariya, Maya, Amila - Any ideas? We don't know whether the baby is a boy or girl yet

Amila is a gorgeous name! I quite like Amaya too. For a boy, it's perhaps a little more difficult. Rohan and Roshan are quite common Sri Lankan names. Dion/Diyon is also an option.

Thanks! I do like the name Amila, its short and sweet and very easy to pronounce in England which is the vibe we're going for - and I love the name Amaya too but my cousin is called that, so not sure I can use it!

I wouldn't use Amaya because that style of name seems very popular at the moment, and all the Amaya.Inaya, Amaya type names blur into one. Maya type names are so popular that they're no longer a nod to a heritage.

I'd pick a name you love not one that is 'easy'. I live in England and soon get used to a 'new' name.
